Robert, very nice images! I enjoyed these and a lot of your images in the past, so glad to see active and posting again! What in the world happened to that car? 😱

Anyway, I don't think Post #1528 was intended as a scolding, or a debate about what is or isn't panoramic. Of course long threads like this are interpreted differently by different people. That said, the OP's original intent for the thread was for panoramic film images:

These digital shots are all great, thank you all for sharing, but let's please try to keep this thread to those taken with panoramic film cameras like the Xpan, Horizon(t), Widelux, Mamiya 7 + adapter, Noblex, Linhof 612/617, etc.

I guess by that definition, even some of my own posts above might not fit, since the Pentax 6x7 is shooting adapted and not native panoramic film format. Maybe I should post mine in the no-holds-barred W/NW: Panoramics (photos with aspect ratio of 2:1 or more) instead. 🙂

These are all remarkable images. Bravo! What a wonderful way to look at things. Breathtaking and powerfully contextual, not captured by 35mm, 6x6, 6x7. A shame that there are so few who try and even fewer available cameras to capture this.

The XPan/TX camera prices have shot through the roof nowadays. I now understand why.

Just found this thread, and have just taken delivery of a new (to me) old X-Pan with the three lenses. Very excited. Not even sure how to attach an image, so bear with me.


From last year, no X-Pan then, just my SWC, and Agfa Vista 200.

gbealnz, there's a sticky on the forum about how to post pictures in threads. I share from Flickr (still free for hosting <1,000 images), using the BBcode method in Post #8:

Thanks DB, I have now found the sticky and am working through it. I prefer to load direct from my hard drive, rather than say Flickr. More work needed.

Loving your 6x7 pianos DB, and having the film in landscape mode from the get go would make life simpler too. Try it in an A12 or A24 back.

Thanks, Gary! Having the film travel horizontally in landscape orientation is a big advantage, and the panoramic adapter I got also has a mask that you can put on the focusing screen to help you visualize the composition better.

Shoots with Coops did some in cameras panoramas with his Hasselblad 500 C/M, using a prism finder. Seems a bit kludgy, and the aspect ratio isn't quite as wide given the square format, but it's definitely possible with some experimentation.
