Shock and Awe. How are these for overwhelming force?
(These and previous entry: Hasselblad XPan II with 30/45/90. Whoever says XPan 90mm is "useless" has not used it in street

Is it? 2,500 for a lens is very expensive. It's a new camera plus lens expensive. Is there a big difference between the 30 and 45mm that warrants the price?
Yes, the price is definitely approaching "Leica prices" (and it's actually less than Leica prices). The difference is a much wider angle of view. The last image of my second post above shows its angle of view quite well. If I do that with the 45mm, I will have to step back quite a bit further (which can be done of course).
If you shoot landscape, you'll need it. If you shoot street, then it will help in many circumstances. Some of my best street XPan images are done with that lens, although in most cases, the 45mm would suffice.

I got a "bronze award" a year ago, but since I have switched focus to street/documentary and that they don't have such a category, I did not enter. It's clear that they are flavoring super high res- stitching images too for landscapes. It's hard to compete with with an XPan in that sense. May be a 617.
