Additionally: There are not very much digital panarama cameras.
Almost every ILC digital camera can shoot panoramic shots quite easily.
For a 3:2 sensor...
Turn on the 1/3 frame gridlines and use the center row for framing and you have 4.5:1 AR. (for a sensor size of 36mmx8mm)
If your camera has square frame grids turn them on and use the middle two rows. 3:1 AR. (for a sensor size of 36mm x 12mm)
To figure out equivalent lens FOV
compare vertical FOV.
For example shooting the Voigtlander 15mm using 3:1 framing you are using half the vertical FOV (38.6 degrees) so roughly equivalent to a 33 or 34mm lens vertically but with 100 degree FOV horizontally.
With a 10mm lens you end up with the same horizontal FOV of most swing lens panoramic cameras, slightly more vertical FOV and get the entire image in an instant without time distortions and with the benefits of image stabilization...etc...etc.
Use a 21 or 22mm and you are at about a 50mm vertical FOV with around 82 degrees horizontal.
With an A7RII/III using square framelines the panoramics are still 21 megapixels. Scanned panoramics with my Pakon are about 12 megapixel.
And just like an XPAN if you want to shoot traditional 3:2 that is available too. And just like an XPAN when shooting panoramic you are using a lens with a wider image circle and cropping it vertically. Unlike an XPAN you aren't cropping horizontally too when in 3:2 mode.
