Bought yesterday

..off of C-List for $100. I was hoping for a black body, but I'm not complaining.
edit: I put batteries in it today and the meter worked!
It's hard to tell in the picture but that's a 1.2 lens too.

Erik, not that I know of. Just figured out how to load film, wind, and release the shutter. Focusing seems okay, though not quite used to a reverse image. The shutter (or the mirror) sounds like a mini-explosion, I haven't finished the roll yet.

Wait, you're just downstate! Need to have a RFF gathering in the area some day.

I just got one of these as well. Are you having the focusing screen issue common to these guys?

Wait, you're just downstate! Need to have a RFF gathering in the area some day.

Just picked up one myself about 2 weeks ago. Luckily mine had been serviced and focus seems to be spot on. So far I've got a Nikkor 50mm f/3.5 and a Zenzanon 100mm f/2.8. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on that 75mm Nikkor-PC when you get some film developed. Love the 50 and 100, but find myself missing a standard lens.

Got this a little while ago. My OM4T champagne died and I found this beauty on the "bay" for a good price.

Lookin' Snazzy! How's the Deathwish coffee?

The 75 looks wonderful through the viewfinder. I haven't had any film done yet but I'll chime in too, gladly.

I noticed that mine is a little soft at infinity, and read up and found out that the light seals on the focusing screen can lead to the focus being off. Common issue, though. The reversed image I'm used to from WLFs on other cameras, but I do also have the prism. The shutter is loud, but that's because it uses such a weird mechanism.

When most focal plane SLRs, including medium format, trip the shutter, the mirror flips up, aperture closes, then the leading curtain goes, then the trailing curtain, then the mirror flops down again (if it's auto return.)

The Bronica S2 has the lens recessed far into the body, so a rising mirror would clip the back element. The S2 does the following:

1. Drops the mirror to the bottom of the mirror box.
2. Covers the mirror with a black plate to keep it from reflecting onto the film.
3. Covers the ground glass with a special curtain that blocks the light from leaking in through the viewfinder.
4. Leading curtain.
5. Trailing curtain.
6. The VF blind, and mirror cover, both go back, and the mirror pops back up into place.

It's crazy. Take the back and lens off and trip it a few times, and just watch. And put it in Bulb and hold it open just to see the craziness, since even on 1/8th speed slow mo, the whole process happens in less than two seconds.

And yes, I'm downstate, and we SHOULD meet up. :)

Thanks unixrevolution. I have taken it out and run some HP5 through it. Works flawlessly.

The Deathwish coffee is good, but i must admit I drink it for its high caffeine content. I work second shift.

Awesome! I'm glad it works.

And that's good to know. I know the caffeine content is super high, and I want to try it, but I wouldn't drink it if it tasted bad.

I wonder if it makes good Cold Brew....

First time posting here...learned a lot already from this great community!

Now for the topic at hand - my father's honorable Asahi Pentax ME:

So here "She:" is. (Or should I say He?) Very Old School & Manly! ;)

Just need to figure out the best battery option. Any Suggestions?

The "75" is superb... and I put scare-quotes only because to be precise I'm speaking from experience on the 7.5 cm Nikkor-P, which is an older variant than you mentioned. (Presumably you've been here and looked at all the flavors of 75 lenses.) The 75 or 7.5 is cheap on eBay (two-digit US$ cost) so you can't go too far wrong experimenting with one.

All photos in my flickr stream taken with it (assuming I've organized things properly) are here.

The lens is so good, I've considered buying this bizarre and expensive hack-job adapter to use it on Sony mirrorless as about a 105mm-ish equivalent portrait lens.
