This SRT-201 was a nice gift to me yesterday. It's actually a later model with X-sync only and a non-locking DOF actuator (a post-1977 change [*] ). My SRT-101's have welcomed it into the fold.



[*] The 101's DOF locked, but could be done only if the shutter was cocked. The post-1977 201's eliminated the need to cock the shutter, but also removed the locking aspect. Also, there's no mirror lock-up on 201's.

That's what I was wondering too, Pan. I've never seen a black 201 and the finish on that one doesn't look at all like my black 102.

I really like the SR-T series, my favorite being the 102 with MLU (mirror lock-up). Minolta ended this feature in the 101s and 102s around 1974, so not all 101s and 102s have MLU, either.

I have an SR-T 201 that I bought new (chrome body), but mine is a later model than Pál_K's. Mine doesn't have the CLC metering, but it does have a focusing screen with the split-image focusing aid, surrounded by a microprism.

I, too, prefer the later DOF mechanism. Nice gift to receive, Pál_K!

Didn't bond with it though - i found it having some certain ergonomic issues like the bleeper that does not disengage, average viewfinder, two frames per film less (meter does not engage until frame counter goes to '1').

Quite small though, i have a picture to compare size with other cameras.

Agree on beeper, but mines pretty feeble now. The viewfinder is the same as my FE so I don't have a problem with that. It's amusing what different things we look for though - as I do all my 35mm scanning in batches of six, I hate the residue of ones and twos, so don't mind that.

I rarely use my Nikon kit, but I've had one of these before and think it perfect as a little walkabout camera, especially with either of the 40mm or 50mm pancakes I've got. Much as I love my F2AS, it's just too bulky for regular use, my FE is dead, and my FM2n gets exercise less and less as I prefer to use my Leicas when I want a manual camera.
 
I have more Nikon glass now than I used to have back then so I sold it (had more Pentax and Minoltas then). If I find one now I will probably grab it but I am not actively seeking one. I would like to get my hands on an FG to see how it handles.

The FG is nice and compact, especially with this E lens. Best to get one with a grip.

Beeper can be turned off. It's a nice-looking camera.

Here's mine when I bought it a few years ago. I've since added a strap, which I think is essential.
