Shutter Issue

I have a Vivitar XV 1 slr film camera with an SMC Pentax M 2.0 50mm lens. When I install the lens fully and it locks in place, I notice that the shutter on the lens opens fully and locks open. If I begin to loosen the lens, the shutter blades reappear and function normally. But the lens is not fully locked in place. Any thoughts? Problems with the lens or camera? And how to fix it? Thanks so much in advance. :bang:

Hi I assume you mean the aperture diaphragm? It has to open fully when the lens is on the body, or you wouldn't be able to see through the lens for focusing? When you trip the shutter, it should stop down to what ever the selected f-stop is, provided it isn't f2.0.
