I was playing around with my CL and the collar around the shutter release was loose. So I, instead of tightening it, I unscrewed it, just to see what it looked like. I screwed it back on and now the shutter release no longer pushes down. The film advance lever had been turned before I did any of this so the release should work. The camera is/was in perfect, functional shape. Does anyone now what the problem is? Any suggestions as to what to do?

It sounds like the pin under the shutter release has un hooked. You may be able to lift it back into place but that could cause a whole other world of problems. Seems like a toss up to try and fix it. Either you give it a shot and it doesn't work and it goes for repair or it just goes for a repair right away.
