Sigma DP2

Interesting. Amazon sells DP2 for $570 right now. if the firmware update brings AF speed same level to DP2s, maybe it's a good timing to snatch one.

Funny , I mused over the same Idea ....
my only problem is : Will I get Bored with Digital
I did w. the grd 2 & the M8...

or will that foeven sensor knock me over...

Helen,

I have exact same problem. I'm sure I get bored and don't feel much of attachement to the camera or photos. When I'm debating which camera to carry for weekday commute, I'll definitely pick a film camera because if I come across with something real interesting and had only digital camera, I'll be kicking myself real hard. :p Heck, my only personally owned digital camera is iPhone 3GS at the moment. :p

But I'm thinking it's nice to have one "real" digital camera that I can use for super quick shooting for classified listings, parties, a bit nicer than iPhone blog postings, you know? For that, I think 40mm is great and probably only focal length I need. Sigma's sensor has lots of fan so you never know, Helen. ;)

And I'm not trying to say DP2 isn't "real camera" or any digital-film debate type of stuff. I've seen quite impressive stuff with this little camera, like this:

Interesting browsing this thread and perusing the images ... which are excellent I might add!

I've always liked the look of the pics I've seen from the DP1 and now the DP2 ... digital images often have a harsh clinical look that I find unappealing and I've not seen this at all from this camera. They have a warm more gentle appearance to them and it's this quality that attracts me to my D700's files ... I find them very similar!

I have an aging canon A620 in the cupboard that has served me well but at some point I may have to upgrade that p/s niche to the Sigma methinks!

I think you nailed it. I've been thinking of DP series ever since DP1 came out, but 28mm wasn't my favorite focal length. Maybe I should give foeven a try with 40mm focal length.

Yeah ... I find 28mm a little limiting and somewhat of a specialised focal length ... 40mm is a lot more versatile.

The 28mm lens on my otherwise perfect little GR1v stops me using it as much as I would like to.

Just downloaded the new firmware 1.04.
Impressive, AF is now so much faster.
The camera is now usable in low light too, the AF actually locks on most subjects, unlike in the past.

The new firmware really improves autofocusing on Dp2.
Instead, I'm experiencing difficulties with new SIGMA Photo Pro 4.0 for Macintosh on my iMac; anyone else the same?
