Where do you all get the DP2? I am waiting for it .......
I had mine in Tokyo last April, soon as Sigma released; unfortunately it came only with Japanese user's manual, but controls are pretty intuitive; anyway I am still waiting Sigma upload a pdf English version somewhere.

yanidel - nice work. I'm a dp1 fan and looking forward to your ongoing feedback on the dp2. ps - also like your M8 work. the de-saturated 'look' is rather funky.#
as for workflow - i use the SPP to process and output TIFFs and then make final adjustments like dodge & burn using LR2. Ok, it would nicer if you can do it all in LR2 but the foveon support is slow and awful in LR2 and I do find SPP brings out much much better details from the RAW files. I guess I should take my own advise and use CaptureOne for my m8 files! DOH.

thanks for the comment and description of your process. My problem is that my whole funkytreatment is in LR2 and SPP does not have "creative features" such as vignetting. So whatever the raw files look like when it is supported in LR2, I guess I will have to deal with it. I guess that for B&W (I have no workflow), I will follow your advice. At some point, I'll write my impressions on the DP2 for street work, but it takes time to master the DP2 and adapt to it so don't want to make conclusions too fast. For the moment, the biggest thing I regret is the lack of programmable Auto-ISO that go above ISO200 and 1/25th ... the difference is many times in the details ...

LR2 - Since version 2 (for PC anyway) you can now do dodge & burn as well as vignetting - it's called POST CROP - one of the menu towards the END. You can also import various pre-defined 'effects' to add to the creative look. Similarly, LR2 now has gradient filters. Have you discovered these features?
SPP's key benefit for me is the X3 fill light and their 'auto' feature is pretty spot on most times.
As for street, the DPs are not P&S but can take lovely street shots.

Here is a wide open shot (F2.8, ISO200) I believe it shows well the sharpness and OOF capability of the camera.

DP1? 28mm lens
I mean, if I can put a wide lens adapter/conversion on the DP2, I will buy DP2 due to its 2.8 lens rather than the DP1.

I do not have the DP1 or DP2, although I hope to get a DP2 sometime soon, but I have a Sigma SD10, and I also have a Contax G2 and Fuji 645, and Voigtlander R2 and 35 1.7.... And so, with that out of the way: First, it is utter madness to try to work from jpgs on the DP cameras, or use a non-Sigma RAW processor, as it defeats the purpose of the cameras, which is exquisite image quality. Second, learn to use SPP. It is imperfect, as is everything in life, even the programs you already know how to use, but it is not a step back in time. Use the auto function and see if you like the result, then do what you have to do. It's easy and it's free. After you learn to use SPP perhaps another image editor will work, but why struggle? SPP is not a "creative" image editor, although the "fill light" function, with positive and negative application on RAW files, can work an occasional miracle. From my time on the Sigma forum and my own experience in processing Sigma images I can say that almost all Sigma shots are extremely well, if not best, processed by SPP, and the next step is to finish the work in the image editor of your choice, if you feel that is necessary. On various Sigma forums there have been problems reported with blown high-lights in SPP 3.5, which may have been corrected in 3.5.1, but it is an SPP problem not a camera issue, and I believe it can be resolved by exposure corrections in SPP. And maybe the camera and SPP will force a change in work-flow? Would that be so bad? Are we dedicated to process or results? The good news and bad news is that the DP1 has essentially the same sensor as the SD10, which is still competitive with most high end DSLRs in terms of image. We should expect the DP2 to do well, and it does. Is it a point and shoot? No. It is way better than that.

Sigma Corporation announce that firmware Ver.1.01 for the DP2 is now available for download - SIGMA DP2 firmware [Ver.1.01].
Benefits of this firmware update are a decrease of the phenomenon of intermittent camera freeze under certain conditions and an improvement of the accuracy of the Auto Focus.

Yes, I only use RF now, and I was looking for a camera to carry around, small but great in quality, for a long time. I am quite sure to have found it ...
About the finder ... I will probably buy a Voigtlander 40mm. I am not sure by now what to do with a grip ... or maybe the case. My friend uses a case (only the back part) for his LX3, and I like this feeling very much. Well, first I must get the camera itself! and make the first pictures with ist. Then I'll see further.
Cheers,

The DP2 is 669,90e here in Finland, while you can get DP1 for 299e. :/,
How do you feel about manual focusing wide open with a viewfinder on the DP2? I imagine it is harder compared to the DP1 because the shallower depth of field.
The DP1 DOF is rather easy to handle without looking to the LCD because of F4 and ~28mm.

I just received mine last week. I have a lot of learning to do with...such as the LCD tricking you into thinking you have a bad shot, but the shot ends up being excellent after seeing the RAW image on the PC. The little LCD screen is pretty bad..
I have a couple shots on my site...the sample pics are nothing great, but I plan on using this exclusively as my SLR replacement
I think my Ricoh GRD and the DP2 will be the ultimate P&S combo for my purposes!! Dam, I'm really enjoying the DP2 right now!

I've had mine for a few weeks and I really enjoy it.
I have lost a few quick snapshots of my kids due to not realizing the focus was set in manual mode. Normally you would catch focus problems when reviewing the image on the LCD -- but in this case, the LCD is so poor it isn't always apparent when things are out of focus.
On the other hand, if you are intentionally shooting in manual focus mode, the MF dial works really well, and the quick zoom feature makes focusing practical.
Battery life is really bad.
The only other nuisance I have encountered is I frequently -- and unknowingly -- turn on exposure bracketing. Not a big deal, but at first I could never remember how to turn it off.
Otherwise, it's fun to use and I haven't pulled out my M or DSLR since I received it.
