Sigma DP3M for $748.00 ..... !!!

c r kennedy is a very good distributor for sigma/pentax gear in Australia.
Their prices are very similar to us prices.
unlike canikon.. ripping aussie off for a long time now

Isn't that the truth. When I bought my D700 I took the risk of getting it out of Hong Kong ... the price in Oz at that time was ridiculous!

I've never dealt with C R Kennedy but they seem to have excellent prices on what they sell and it was a smart move on Sigma's part to have a web shop via this company. :)

yeah.. they set up on line shops pentax aus and sigma aus.
and they have been price matching "grey". I used to live 5 mins away their Melbourne office/warehouse. I could just wonder in there and ask a price match for DWI...:D

The lowest DP3M I've ever seen here in Hong Kong is AU$710. So Keith yours is pretty sweet!
Btw , I am tempted to get a DP2M

I think the DP2M is the pick of the trio for versatility ... 45mm equivalent focal length is OK for most situations IMO. I think I'd find the DP1M a little wide ... I seldom go wider than 35mm.

Nice to have all three! :D

Yes, we can always wish ;-)
I had bought the DP1M and I‘m stunned by its performance, now see if I can get the DP2M... it's selling for AU$640 new!

Ha ...DID IT !!
Now the agonizing wait of Battery charging

Love the feel in the Hand of the DP2m
The simplified look & sparse menu / buttons
Made in mind for a Photographer who has some wits about him ...;)

I have to admit that I have no clue about which cameras you are raving about. Sony or Fuji or other?

Made me Giggle Raid
You can't be as bad as Me ....digitally speaking

Hmmm the Signa DP2M
45mm equivalent / f2.8 fixed lens
Foveon sensor which means Yummy Good Delicious Colour
And even the B& W is rich
But lots of CONS to this this Camera

though The Bottom line is the Sensor and its
Tres Beautiful Rendering
Which may make it worth Suffering For ;)

Have fun w/ it.
Enjoy
Gary

Thank You Gary.... hope this will Bring some Fun back into my Shooting and to learn some Digi ropes ...
Encourage me to utilize the BEST of Both Worlds
taking a short break from Film / even though i am helping a Friend set up a Darkroom which I will eventually get to use

:)

Full darkroom.. Nice.

I am lazy about scanning negs.. Love working under an enlarger, but health related reasons haven't done any work for a long time.

Which dpm is best as a daily walkaround camera? Taking into account focal length as well as the limitations eg. Slow focusing, poor iq above ISO 400 etc... I'm not bashing the camera, but I want to know which is the most suitable tool. And any advice on how to best use it would be great.

All three dp Merrill's are essentially the same except for lens. A better question to ask yourself is what is your favorite focal length when u are out and about.

For me it is dp2m because I like the normalish perspective.. W/ 40 being my favorite.

I too chose the 45 pov... DP2M

but was lusting after the DP3M equiv to 75mm
The photos w/dp3m I have seen look Amazing...sharp center and very soft, creamy smooth oof

here in the States the DP2M goes for $799.00 plus tax / the DP3M goes for $930.00 plus tax

Just in case I confused anyone, my apologies. My favorite focal length is 40'and the dp2m comes the closest.

Dp1m - 28 pov
Dp2m - 45 pov
Dp3m - 75 pov

Rumor of a dp4m/dpz designated camera in q4 this year.

Gary

good luck with it helen!

Thanks Joe, me really wants to fall in love with this Quirky camera...somehow i think it suits me

too bad we couldn't have the chance for a compact digi fest shootout here in NYC...
Sony RX100 against the DP2 M
though the sony in terms of speed would blow off the Sigma...:eek

i think the sensors in terms of size might be close
