That's great news Peter, it's been a long time coming this project of yours. All the very best, really looking forward to the results when they finally appear.

About the gray Bessa, tell her it's an investment, much like your olive R2. Bound to appreciate after a few years, so why pass up this opportunity to get a new one?

I will keep that in mind Terence! I am still trying to cook up an excuse to convince my wife about this highly irrational purchase! By the way, I have finally contacted the local gay community and I am going to document gay lifestyle of Singapore next week! Talking about exciting months ahead! :p

wow! will be waitin for your pics :)

But you have to wait till the end of the year as there are facets of their lifestyle that I would have to wait. For example the New Year gay party.

Wah I've only been away for a short time and I kenna swan twice liao!
Terence... If i remember correctly U are OLDER than ME!! so if anything I bring the avaerage age down ok ;-) and about the leica huh... I probably would be still using the R (that is now dryonks') if u did not make it so easy for me to get the M6! and then thanks to you got nice neoprene soft strap some more.

Susie the G system is fantastic. I have the G2 and slowly got all the lenses except the 16mm. my favourite is the 21mm. u simply must try it! When I was lured to the DARK SIDE with the M6 I thought I would sell the entire set but I must say that I still have it around for the sake of the 21mm and the 90mm (yes I'm abit too old to manual focus a 90mm even on a leica). Never tried the G1 but I understand that the focussing is not as reliable as the G2. True?

With contax dead... it is a perfect time to pick up used contax gear. I see many G2 sets out there for sale really a fraction of what it was just 2 years ago.

If you are interested in some of the other lenses e.g. 28mm, 35mm sometime in the future check with me, I've got the filter, caps, pouches and boxes.

I really like your B/Ws too. nice movement in your pics. Keep it up! Hope we can all meet up sometime.

Nick

Hi Nick,

How is the Leica getting on? Do you feel good to go over to the dark side of RF photography? We definitely must have a gathering when you are back, not to far away now!

Regards,
Peter

Woohoo! Another avid fan of the Contax!! Thank you for your kind words! :)

Yep, you are right the G1 doesn't have a very reliable taste of that after taking it on my first trip to Beijing. So after getting back from the trip, haha I indulged the manual from cover to cover, and got all the manual functioning down. So now... I just adjust with the distance dial! And its worked beautifully since!

Right before leaving Taipei, and back to KL. Managed to scrap up enough money and bought the 28 Biogon, and have not taken it off my camera since. Which is when I found that my love lies in wide angle! :D Since that, I've been wanting the 21 Biogon as well! Haha, I even went as far as asking Terence about the EF 15mm that he is letting go!

When funds allow, I might pick up another Contax body along with the 21 and 90! Haha but I'm getting ahead of myself already! And may be in 10 years, I might just be able to save up for an M7  Its nice dreaming!

Will be trying to get myself to Singapore mid-end of July if timing works out! :(

Cheers Nick!

Hello people! Another KL member here. I use the MP and Canon F-1N, and occasionally the G1.

I think I helped convert Terence to the wonderful world of Leica when I loaned him my bro's M7. Welcome to the abyss! Bwahahaha!

Welcome fstop! It seems the Darkside is getting stronger! But there is hope, there is one that would bring a balance to the force! Glenn, if you are reading this please get that Bessa R kit from Dr. Yao! :D

I'll be holding your MP hostage if you go on about this... hey, you haven't paid me yet.

Say hi to Nick, Geri's bro.

"Hi Nick, Geri's brother..." ...Oh that's me....
Hi fstop... Gan right? Welcome.
I've heard about your photography, hoping to see and learn more. Is that Brinal on drums in your gallery?

Nick

One day.... One day Peter is going to get to me and i might become converted to the Bessa R. :D He's been telling me about it every time we talk. :D But after holding Peter's R2 and looking through that viewfinder, i really like the build, handling, m mount and that viewfinder is just so BRIGHT! I want an R2 too! I bring balance? hmmmm......

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.

Nice to meet you Nick. Yup, I'm Gan, Geri's old uni friend. And yes, that's a photo of your brother-in-law in my gallery. Small world, eh?

Terence, I'll see you on Wednesday. Be nice to my MP. Please.

Yes, we should have a gathering of all of us one of these days. I believe it would be a good experience and beneficial to all. :D

I think all the Singaporeans should come down to KL for a small gathering! Even though I think the Singaporeans out number us a little! :p

Welcome fstop! Even though I'm pretty new myself!!

*waves to you from Shah Alam*

:D

Wait till you check out one of the brightline finders from CV Glenn, you'll know what bright is once you look through one of those.

Still waiting on the results from your first roll. I got a bunch of Fuji Press 800 if you want. Expired already but still usable if you want to give this color film a spin.

Hi suzums! Hi gc1! What a nice bunch of people you lot are. "O wonder! How many goodly creatures are there here!", to quote the Bard.

Nick, you have a very cute daughter. My favourite shot is the 3rd one. - love the look of anticipation of her face. Looks rather cold for ice cream though...

Thought I'd share some rather old photos of Malaya here. These are glass negatives my brother found while rummaging through an abandoned shop house in Perak.

Gan
were these your own prints from the glass negatives?
Nice. Especially like the wayang one in the middle.

Nick
