Dear Fellow Singaporeans,

Do you want to form a local chapter of RFF so that we could meet up, trade equipment and to go for group shoot? We could even discuss on doing projects that would eventually be published. Do PM me if you are interested.

Warmest Regards,
Peter

An idea, Peter: : when the traveller Canonet is there, you can all use it during a get-together, with the same roll, to give more "colour" and involve more participants - it still won't take considerably longer to finish with it.

Pherdinand, I guess you know how tiny a place Singapore is to suggest something like that!

Great idea Peter, hope this thread attracts a couple of the local RF folks to come forward. I'll stick a thread in offstone too but I'll give CS a miss.

Ahh solly too excited .... can join in only wen I balek kampung boleh?

Nick

Thanks for the idea Pherdinand and I will keep that in mind when the globe trotting camera reaches me. Good idea Terence on getting more local guys to join, get their camera to take some pictures instead of keeping them in the dry cabinet and fondle them on the weekends! Who is it who told me camera equipment connoiseurship is akin to masturbation? 😛 As for Nick, anytime man! By the way, when are you coming home? Must buy you a drink! 🙂

i don't own a proper RF yet (unless you count a canonet ql17 and a bessa L)... but the bessa r will come. once i perfect the mind-over-wallet technique 🙂

great idea Peter, count me in 🙂

That's 2 RFs more than I have... waiting anxiously for the UPS man to come any day now with a precious delivery.

a canonet ql17 is a rf from tip to toe. Wadda you mean it's not a "proper" fr.
Do I have no rf at all then, with two gsn's, a beat-up ql17GIII, a scrapped-down canonet28, a hi-matic 9 and a stinky old super ikonta?

By the way, good news guys: Tne Canonet 28 New and the Canonet QL17 GIII share alot of parts! In my busted Ql17, replaced the broken front and back vf/rf windows on the top plate, as well as the wind lever, from an el cheapo "28 New" model - all works now, except there's still no batt.check button. Anyone has one extra?😀

More Singaporeans here than I thought! I will be meeting up with Terence tomorrow and we will discuss more on future projects and outings. Will update the local boys again. By the way Nick, it will be a flash and you will be home. I thought 2 years will be long when I was on WHO Fellowship but it felt much shorter. Perhaps time passes really fast when you are having fun? Joe, how do you know Singaporeans like to take minutes when we meet? 😛

What you own are definitely RF! Unless you meant proper RF by Leica? 😛 You are going to hurt your wallet by going down that path! 😀

peter, don't we all take minutes at our meetings?
😉joe

True, true. 😛 But you have not seen the obsessive nature of minutes taking during nurses meetings! It is a national past time in the civil service too! As the youngest in my department, I am always tasked with this chore. It is the infinite ammendments that kill! 😀

No minutes taken at this morning's meeting... too much was discussed, I don't think it would have come out coherently on paper.

A lively discussion on a wide range of topics. Peter especially fascinated me with his account of photographing the Taoist mediums. Check out the gallery in his Pbase link.

For those of you interested in future gatherings, drop me an email (use the link in my profile) and I'd put everyone on a mailing list.

Terence

If there are "too many" Singaporeans.... we could even start an East Coast / Joo Chiat section of the Singapore Chapter!!!! East Coast is Best!!! Best laksa, Best kaya, Best Prawn Noodles, Best Chilli Crab, Best Pepper Crab. Guess I'm really missing home.

Nick

It was a good meeting and I think our local members will enjoy talking shop during future gatherings. Nick, still remember the smell of durian? The smell that we all inhale? It smells like home! D24 is waiting for you man! 😛
