Singapore Chapter of RFF

hi peter, i am working here. been in syd since '02.
was up in queensland studying and working before that.

I see. You are currently staying in the city area? There are a few Sydney RFF members here and you could contact them for shoots and to shop for new equipment. 🙂

thanks peter. i do live quite close to the city. as for shopping for new equipment here, i'm not too sure about that. prices in australia are quite high! maybe its the import tax and gst or something.

its a good thing i discovered this forum and cameraquest! otherwise i would never have landed myself a bessa r. they're retailing here for around A$200 more than CQ!

it'll be interesting to see what the upcoming camera market is like here. Is there a similar Camera Market thing going on in Spore? that would be so cool.

anyhow, i have cut back on all my rf toys. Now i'm only left with a Chinon 35EE and hexar AF on its way. hmm, have a bunch of LTM lenses still making their agonisingly slow journey from moscow to sydney- and i just sold my fed2 today! no more ltm cameras to mount them on! oh well, only a matter of time before i start itching for a ruski rf again. they're real fun... if u get a good one.

I hope you didn't overpay for the Bessa R. They're going for a bit more than S$500 in Hong Kong with a 35/2.5 Classic Skopar attached, new.

Ruskie cams are great aren't they? That's if u can figure out how to load them in less than 10 minutes.

naw, i didnt buy my bessas here. bought them from cameraquest. mr gandy is good to deal with. but the price is hk is really good indeed. is there a good online hk seller of bessas and rangefinder cameras?

Greetings fellow RF shooters in singapore! I've delayed posting in this section until i've received my first RF camera. Which is today! 😀 😀 My yashica 5000E has arrived. It even has a Yashica case to go along with it. 🙂

I bought most of my Voigtlander equipment from Dr. Joseph Yao. His price is really competitive and you could reach him at joseph@yao.com 😀

Post us some photos of it! 😀

The first thing that you have no need of is the case. I will pass you my camera strap this Saturday. So go get some films and we are going shooting!

Actually i quite like the case. 😀 It's kind of retro and after looking at the various camera bags that are sold. I have realized that the case actually has a useful purpose.

But a strap would be great too. 😀

In modern Singapore, that case is going to turn heads. It's a nice one though, I like the retro look. Better run a test roll through it soon to make sure all is ok.

Thanks for the congrats Terence. The case will be used. It would be interesting to see the reactions when i do. I believe the camera should do fine. i'll be running a test roll through it soon.

Here are some pictures......

Nice cam!

Lens looks big. What lens is that?

I use a case for my camera too. That way your can throw the thing in any bag with everything else and have no need to worry about it. When I go out shooting with only one cam, you can take the upper off and just walk around shooting. When it drizzles, just need to put it back on.

You are lucky to have a nice case, when I got my canonet, it came with a "melting" case, useless.

Thanks chua about the cam. She is a beauty.
As soon as i have finished with the online manual, i'll be attempting to take a few shots.
It's a Yashinon 45mm F1.8 lens.
Yup, that's how i intend to use the case too. It's useful to put it in any bag. I've been lucky to buy from Greyhound man. He does take pride and take care of his stuff. The last cam that i almost bought had no cap, battery leaked and lens was mouldy. This is so much better. 😀

It serves two purposes actually.
One is to let me know that the battery is working. It does so by showing a word that says "under" or "over" in the viewfinder.
Second, it's to let me know whether my settings are under or over exposed. 😀

I just noticed a switch that is labelled "Switch" to the side of the lens. Talk about being redundant. What's that for?
