Hi everyone,
I'm going to be in Hartford and New Haven for a few days this week and realized I don't have any slide film in my bag.
Can anyone recommend a shop to buy slide film (35mm and 120) in either town? Hopefully some place easily accessible by public transport...
Thanks in advance, really appreciate it.

Hartford - Camera Bar (downtown)
Simonds - East Hartford (need a car)
also if you order from B&H , ground shipping to CT almost always arrives the next day so you could have it shipped to your hotel.

Just checked the weather forecast. Looks like I won't see any photowalk worthy weather while I'm there. Any locals have recommendations for things to photograph while staying dry?
Milford Photo in the New Haven area for the film. That is a car ride too.
Weather looks to be a washout on Thursday, you may get some breaks to go out today and Friday.
In Hartford the Wadsworth Athanium is a nice museum and worth a stroll with your camera. Likewise in New Haven there are a number of museums around town associated with Yale. These are all in town, walking distance if you are staying in either city. If you want to venture north of Hartford the New England Air Museum has a decent hanger facility.
If you are going to be around for the weekend the Hartford Marathon is Saturday morning. I am not sure about the events in New Haven this weekend, but there are OWS groups organizing in both cities. I would not be surprised to find some activity associated with that.
In for business? Enjoy your stay.

Thanks rover. I'll be there Wed night through Sat afternoon for a scientific conference in Hartford. I'm planning to swing down to New Haven on Friday to see a friend at Yale.
Hopefully I'll get some good shots. Decided just to bring my Rolleiflex. Maybe I'll report back here after I develop/scan.

It does sound like you will be catching the rain. Buy your film in Hartford. The Camera Bar is right in the city. New Haven has a decent night life. Lots of good restaurants and bars, a fun college town at night. Enjoy.

Is James Camera on Chapel Street, New Haven still there? I'm going to be in New Haven in November.
James Camera is so small now I always forget about it. It was a large store on York when I was a young man.
I just did a search, it does look like it is closed.
If you can't find 120 film while you are here drop me a PM. I have Ektar in the freezer.
We should try to get some folks to meet, pizza and Leicas.

Thanks for checking, and for the film offer -- no need. But I was curious about James camera. In days of yore there was Davenport Camera on Chapel for supplies, and Fairhaven Camera was a treasure trove of used Leica goodies. It would be great to round up likely suspects for a Summicron Pizza at BAR -- let me check the schedule with the kids (main purpose of trip).

For the record, Camera Bar is a good place. They have some Leicas, too. Very friendly people.

Sorry for the confusion -- I meant BAR in New Haven. They serve pizza. BYO camera.
