Slight rattle in a 50mm mamiya lens.

Hi

I brought a 50mm mamiya lens off ebay. the seller described it as mint... cosemtically it looks good but it seems there is a ratlle when you gently shake it... one rattle is the catch on the rear element, which i assume goes when you attach the lens to the camera... (dont have one yet) but there is a smaller rattle when i hold that down...

does anyone else have this experience... does it mean it needs to be sent back?

What 50mm Mamiya? They made some for the Press, 6 and 7. The trigger linkage on the Press one has some play so that one at least will inevitably rattle a bit at that point - and the slow speed escapement of all mechanical shutters may rattle too. Don't have any of the others - as electronic shutter lenses they have no escapement, but on the other hand, electronic shutters tend to have less tension overall, so they might be more prone to rattle at other places of their mechanism.

its the mamiya 7 i believe!!

took it to a specialist.. apparently it is the ball bearings and everything is fine.
