am shopping for a ND filter for my noctilux and I am wondering if a slim filter would be wise (I'd be using the filter so that I could shoot wide open during daylight hours).I know that slim filters are usually for wide angles and I do not know if a standard filter would cause (even more) vignetting on the Noct?

Cheers,
Ryan

I use an E58 Noctilux and I think a filter does cause a bit more vignetting. I have a standard ND for mine and it works OK.

There is definitely vignetting at F1 even without filters. This is due to the large aperture, a design problem. I don't remember if it got worse with a standard filter.

My Noctilux is the E60 version with detachable hood and shows some stronger vignetting with a normal-sized Leica UV-A filter (permanently mounted for protection) and less with a slim-sized ND 0.9 (B&W).
