I need to vent, I am in a rut of bad luck. My father, though getting better and at this moment is well, has had two stints in the hospital the last few months. I had the top of a tree lopped off taking out the power and cable to my house for a week. Job consolidations, work load is way up. My stove burned out in a rage of electrical sparks and flame, $800 to replace. My cloths dryer kicked out this weekend, $500 gone to replace, then my simple auto repair ran $2,037 today. And add insult to all of this, I get home and another tree is down in my yard knocking out the power again.
My goodness, I am waving the white flag, I give up.
At least the power company came right away.
I need to go to church and get things worked out with the big guy.
OK, rant over.

I like my wife's version "That which does not kill me makes me wish I was dead!"
Wow, I was stressed over turning 40 this summer, but you are having a rough time Rover (also 40). This is what I am worried about, ya turn 40 and the SH*T hits the fan. Hang in there Rover.

As a 49 year old, I can tell you, it doesn't get any better. About the only thing that I am getting better at is going to the washroom several times a night. I never used to be able to do that!

Hang in there Rover. It sounds as though you're due for a run of good luck. I feel for you. That's a really rough couple of weeks.

Tooo much info there Frank. Here is one we get a Fire Alarm Call tonight at 2870 county road 50. Out of the hall comes the pump, a tanker and the rescue and head off down the road. Only to turn around and head back as the number are below 2870. As we head back north and arrive at the Driveway for 2870 Hum it's the firehall. The alarm was going off in the offices.

Talk about too much info, that's not very confidence-inspiring!
Sounds like the Keystone Cops.

Last night I soldered a second diode into the battery wire of my Gossen Sixtomat3 lightmeter. These were meant to run on mercury batteries which are no longer available. After getting one diode installed to drop the voltage of the silver based batteries, the meter was still off. I needed to double the ASA setting and then still take off more exposure for the meter to agree with a known good meter. I remembered reading that if the item requires 2 batteries, then 2 diodes are needed. It reads fine now.
Thanks guys. A semi good night's sleep makes things not hurt as much. It is pay day today!!!

When I was in college I had an NSU Quickly. How's that for a wuss name? I really wanted a Vincent Black Shadow. Couldn't afford one then and certainly can't now.xayraa33 said:whatever happened to cool names for motorcycles,
like the Rudge Multi or the AJS Porcupine or the Velocette Venom
there still must be some cool names out there for the new bikes.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I'd go back to Japan, even though I've been there before and there are lots of places I haven't been. Street photography there would be so easy because things are different and strange, and the people are so polite. (At least that was my impression while I was there.)

Mike (dadsM3) is on his canoeing trip today. Wonder if he tipped?

You know that the definition of a Canadian is one who knows how to make love in a canoe...
I wonder if he had company?
