Slow speeds too slow, serious or not?

Hi I am interested in a camera, which the seller says, has slow shutter speeds that dont sound accurate too him, they are longer sounding than they should be.
Will this be fixed usually with a CLA, or can it be more serious. It is an ebay seller so I have no way of checking out the camera in person. If it is a sign of something more serious, like the whole shutter having to be replaced, then I'd rather not buy.
Any help will be apreciated.

What camera is it? Yes, a good CLA by a reputable technician generally will bring shutter speeds to spec. Cloth shutter curtains in old Leicas and Nikons may need to be replaced but that's independent of the shutter speed issue. The metal shutters in old Contax cameras rarely need replacing but might need new tapes - though in the Contax cameras I have had repaired this was not necessary to get the shutters to operate normally. Leaf shutters can also be repaired - if the shutter fires at all it is unlikely that the speeds not sounding accurate would mean that the whole shutter needs to be replaced.

Slow speeds not running well is usually a sign that the shutter needs servicing.

Usually sticky lubricant. Exercising the shutter after having it in the warm sun might free it up a bit. It's not necessarily a sign of damage but just the need for cleaning and relubrication.

The SL2 is a great camera, and a CLA should fix it right up.

Agree with Pickett.....excellent camera! Shutter speed issues are a red flag that the camera really needs a service.
