Small Thought For Small Talk

5 minutes ago I was smoking at my balcony, after my first morning incursion to the RFF.

How lucky I am and have been for walking through the fields of Photography, encompassing People, Art, Photographers, Craft, Technique, Technology, Science, Philosophy, etc .

And how lucky I am for having met this forum, allowing me an interactive and hot exchange about all of these, with people the globe around.

Just a small thought.

Cheers,
Ruben

The common interest in photography, RF in particular of course. The general desire to remain civil at all times, even in strong disagreement. The global membership for constant input to threads and diverse views.

Yeah; nice.

This forum has enriched my life enormously, but also changed the way I see the world. There are people in a dozen countries whom I think of as friends, whose interests I share, whose opinions, thoughts and creativity inspire me, whose welfare concerns me. There are bickerings of course - but the overall effect is to melt the barriers of history, geography, ethnicity or social circumstance...

There was a beautiful early description of photography as "the pencil of nature" - and as the saying goes "one touch of nature makes the whole world kin"

Yes, having a place to share the passion is a wonderful thing. And having it so convenient is also nice.

the thing is...so many different areas of the world are represented here, so many different cultures, yet we all relate to one another over a simple style of camera. Maybe a rangefinder camera is the answer to world peace eh? 🙂

I am happy it is for us at least.
