Probably to preserve it since Tuna is usually sold in cans or plastic pouches that are not refrigerated at the store. I think most canned cat food has a lot of salt for the same reason. It is listed as an ingredient on all the cans of cat food I have here!

Sneaky caught another spider!



Last night, I saw Sneaky on the sofa laying on a big stuffed toy spider. I've seen him attack real spiders and eat them, including one in my basement a year ago that he pulled out of its web to eat!

What kind of spiders do you get? Has Sneaky gotten sick from eating one?

Here, around August to October I’ve had a few Hobo spiders in my garage and twice they’ve entered the house. I’m not afraid of spiders, and I’ve been known to catch smaller ones and put them outside, but the Hobo is way too big for my liking and potentially dangerous. I wouldn’t want to be bitten by one or have an animal eat one. They’re also clever and good at playing dead.

I wouldn’t want to be bitten by one or have an animal eat one. They’re also clever and good at playing dead.

There are no dangerous spiders in northern Indiana where I live. Actually, the only thing here that is venomous enough to be dangerous is the Eastern Massassagua, a small (18-24 inch) rattlesnake. The Massassagua is never seen in the city and is rare in rural areas (it is on the state endangered species list).


My grandpa had a truly badass cat named Molly who used to kill these snakes; she would bring back the freshly killed rattlesnake heads as trophies! Molly was a tiny cat who weighed half what Sneaky does.

Last night, Sneaky noticed that I was trying to read. This couldn't be permitted, so he jumped on the sofa and walked onto my stomach, pushing the book out of his way; then he stretched out across me, and the book, and slept for about 45 minutes.

My son took the photo of me and Sneaky, then handed me my tablet, which I used for the closeup shots of Sneaky.

Stretched out on the bathroom floor asleep yesterday morning. If Mack or I leave a towel on the floor after showering, he'll sleep on it all day.

There are several groups on Facebook for cat lovers, and Sneaky has a huge following on them. If I post a cute photo of him, its not unusual to get 1000 likes and a hundred or more comments!


Last week, a woman in one of the cat groups told me that she makes crocheted cat toys, filled with catnip; and she wanted to send some to Sneaky. They arrived today, and I gave him one of them, which looks like a donut. He went CRAZY and got really high. I made a video!

while talking about cats, my wife asked me which of the cats i lived with i had liked most. i can't pick one, because each of them was so sweet in its own way.

but i can tell, that taking pictures of them isn't a simple and easy thing to do. Chris does an excellent job with sneaky!

Cats are surprisingly hard to photograph. Sneaky, and most cats I have known, will start moving around and refusing to co-operate when you point a camera at them. Takes patience to get a good shot!


My son jokes that "All cats hate cameras." I think he's right.

hmmm, i think "hate" is the wrong term.
some are afraid of the watching eye. but they all notice the attention, and that's what influences their behaviour.
