He was happy last night; we had steak for dinner. Later, he slept next to me for a couple hours on the sofa.

Some Sneaky Stories From Today




Story #1

Earlier today, I had to poop, and Sneaky wanted food. I fed him then went to the bathroom, so that he would be busy eating and wouldn't come in and watch me.

As soon as I sat down, I hear LOUD whiny meowing outside the bathroom door. I hear my son out there asking the cat, "What's wrong Sneaky?" I answered through the door "He's upset that I'm pooping without him!" He then meowed again to signal his agreement.

When I came out, my son told me that as soon as Sneaky heard the bathroom door latch, he RAN out of the kitchen to the bathroom door. He hasn't eaten the rest of his food yet. Probably too upset to eat after missing out on one of his favorite forms of entertainment!



Story #2

As you know, we bought a cat tree for Sneaky last year, and it took him months before he was willing to get up on it. Now, he gets on it a lot, but has become VERY territorial about it. When he is on the cat tree, he BITES anyone who touches him.

A few minutes ago, I walked over to the cat tree and put my hand on it, and he ran to it and jumped on the platform that I was touching and gave me a nasty look!

Sneaky says: "Its just a pillow, you dumb SKY RAISIN!"

We were worried that we had lost Sneaky. My son let him outside Sunday morning before it began snowing and he did not come home until Monday night. I think he got caught in the deep snow and hid under one of the trailers in the trailer park across the street from my house. He was gone 36 hours.

When he came home last night, he was STARVED. He spent most of the night eating! I gave him some steak and grilled chicken tenders when he came home!

I made this photo of him last night, sleeping on his poop emoji pillow.

I'm glad to hear he's safely back home, Chris.

I think a lot of us would grieve if anything happened to Sneaky!

Chris, not sure how I had missed this thread all this time, finally poked my head in today. Thanks for posting.

Back in the day, in my LA neighborhood, we always let our cats out. Sometimes bad things would happen, like kids locking or putting the cat in a bin, or someone poisoning the cat because they just hate cats. One younger cat fell from a tree, another was hit by a car. Once, a neighbor in my apartment building “adopted” my cat until I insisted he return it.

On the good side, one of my cats had kittens and then the mommy cat went missing for a day. We asked around only to discover a neighbor lady took in the cat, thinking it was a stray. We told her the situation. She was a animal lover and belonged to all sorts of organizations. In the end, she actually adopted the cat and kittens from us and gave them a better life and home than we could have done.

That was over 45 years ago. Since then, the cats I’ve had became indoor cats and lived long luxurious lives (living over 20 years). Even so, that’s not something I tell others to do - it’s none of my business.

But now, no longer having a cat and not wanting to go through the pain yet again of their passing, I just admire the neighborhood cats and greet them.

In recent years I have been able to save a few very-lost cats only because they were wearing a collar with a tag and a phone number.

Thanks Chris for the running updates on Sneaky. Miss my cat from 15 years ago. We now have two dogs but not by design, we’re just dopes for hard luck cases. Our newly rescued dog is a very nervous Westie that I made the mistake yesterday of picking up to prevent her from a dangerous jump off the bed. She was having none of that and twisted in my arms and bit my face, puncturing my left nostril. Trip to doctor to get a tetanus booster and antibiotics and now the first week of acclamation to our house is ruined. I’m seriously thinking of slipping in some doggy lorazepam into her feed.

Yesterday, I was sitting on the sofa eating a chocolate chip muffin. Sneaky took note, and jumped up on the sofa and sat down on his poop emoji pillow to stare at me and demand the muffin, which he did not get! His Excellency was not amused.

I was messing with some of my Leica gear and had a camera bag open on the sofa, so Sneaky decided to sleep on the flap! He stayed there for hours before letting me have the bag back. If I leave the bag closed on the sofa, he often cuddles up to it to sleep.

Sneaky used to push Mack out of his bed the same way, which is one of the reasons that Sneaky is now locked out of Mack's bedroom at night. There have also been foot attacks!

Sneaky likes art! He often sleeps on the floor in front of this stack of some of my framed photographs. The one visible behind him was made nearly 25 years ago, when I was an art student.
