Picasa 2 seems like a good alternative to programs like IMatch 3, especially since Picasa is free from Google and IMatch is $59.95.
There was a review of Picasa in the NY Times on Thursday. Below are the links for the Picasa site and for the download. The install file that will download to your hard disk is picasa2-setup-1877.exe.

I downloaded and installed it yesterday. As the New York Times review mentions, Picasa 2 is simple and easy to use. Definitely not "bloatware," but it still has a lot of useful features and a sleek, elegant design. A lot of its photo editing tools use simple defaults that work very well indeed (such as the sharpening filter). Recommended!

I use gmail and from ther I also found the picasa2 program. Looked good and I tried to put it on my PC. No joy--my machine isn't quite current enough. I emailed the support folks and they were kind enough to send me the previous version which should run on my PC. I am fairly impressed esp. as this is freeware!
The main thing I want it for is to get my stuff organized. My pics are kind of scattered around on my machine and it will be good to be able to find them all and stick 'em in one place.

Peter what I like the most is that has an especial filter for converting color to B&W pictures that is great, just like puting a filter on the camera.
I find it an excellent program it's worth to give it a try.
