Still waiting for the April Fool's Announcement that the M8 has been discontinued. NOW that would result in a few coffee-spattered monitors!
That would be too obvious. Now, off to eat the best dish in the world, Yorkshire pudding, followed by copious servings of jellied eels. Mmmm-mmm!

:D Sure had me for a moment.

Yesterday afternoon I and two other guys were at a friend's place. Now this guy is fond of music and has a huge collection (around 40GB of mp3s). In the middle of a piece it suddenly dawned on me that April 1 was a few hours away, so why not...

I told him point blank that I had the particular piece that was playing in my collection too, and it was playing ``slower'' than usual on his laptop (which by the way is a really old machine). Then I pretended to make some observations with my watch for 3 min and declared that his computer clock was losing 15 sec in 3 min. This was completely flabbergasting to say the least, but everybody else joined in (probably understood the date), conducted their own experiments, and reported conflicting time differences. A while later we apparently agreed that the computer clock was actually losing around 12 sec in 3 min. My friend was totally freaked out , particularly when he was told that he would have to listen to every piece in his collection once again at normal speed to properly appreciate them :D. A while later somebody pointed out that the clock on his microwave oven was losing time as well, so perhaps he was overcooking everything :D...

Just in case somebody is wondering what is this `story' doing here in RF gen. discussion, let me just mention that I had my Fed3 + Jupiter 8 with me all the while :p

yea, my jaw about dropped on that one. thanks. I just woke up, was hungry, then felt sick from reading that first post, and then, ah and then... when I read the second post. I wanted to kick your ***. thanks. ;-)

Max .. all I thought was "I totally understand about developing and the time it takes" so be careful, you might get what you joke about ... ;- )

Max... that was mean. I remembered the date after I had some coffee. Then scanned the newspaper looking for joke-items and found none... only to be gotten really bad here! :)

Now, if you had said you've gotten a D200, then it would have been less evident. A D40X? That was a good one! ;)

Yes I live in Prague :) And I just woke up finding all these replies (kinda sleepy/still ill/now hungry) ;)

Jan: I'm probably getting a D40X but for my office needs (taking photos of events at work) I'm keepin all my film RF gear thankfully!!!! :D

getting = my employer will pay for that. :)

I've only been here a short time but still nearly had a coronary reading this.

FWIW, I've had a D40 for three months. Since I have an overwhelming preference for smallish cameras, it's the perfect DSLR for me. But every time I pick it up after shooting with my Hi-Matic or Canon P, the first thought I have is: "Damn, I hate looking down this tunnel!"

Technically RF's are a pain, but for me one glance through a good viewfinder is all it takes to make that irrelevant.

I'll still hang around here in case I get myself an M8 this year.

I said : it's possible, but this sentece( abuot M8 ) was toooo much :D
Well , speaking frendly, I had offer from a friend - about 4-5 months ago - to have
Sigma 30mm f:1.4 for free - if I buy Nikon D40 ... the end of that story is :
Bessa R2M + B&W films
Maybe, Max - one day - if you choose Nikon only wise choice is:
ZF lenses :p
Regards!

Whoa! Good joke! Well done!

Brutal crack, really:
1) selling all the RF gear and
2) buying a D40(x) - a body that cannot even use all Nikkor lenses!!!

Oh, boy. Thank God it was only a joke.

*grins* ;)

I don't consider at all giving up on film / contax system however I definitely need a REAL negative scanner. My flatbed is making me go mad even now.

:)
