Leica LTM Some Barnack Questions

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Start the journey, buy a Leica II or III and try it. If you don't like it, sell it and you should not be out of pocket. The only cost will be film...and if you didn't enjoy the experience that is hardly likely to amount to much.

Next step, buy an M...and so on and so on.

The problem is that you will soon find you have more than one camera.

I agree. Just buy one and use it and if you don't like it, sell it. It isn't likely that you will lose much of your investment, or succumb to that disease and add it to a growing collection.

You don't buy a Barnack because of it's rangefinder, ease of film loading or general ergonomics.

You buy a Barnack in spite of these things.

...another 'feature' is the second, slow speed dial of some models...

The closest a Barnack comes to modern operation is as a super/ultra wide camera with a modern CV 25, 21, 15, or 12, basically bypassing the body VF&RF. Scale focus and frame with an external VF. It's like a miniature Hasselblad SWC and that's pretty compelling, too.

Does the beer have red blinds or does it induce them?

(OK so it is an 'f 'and not a 'c' but I find my own jokes funny)

I used to have a IIIc and dearly loved it it taught me how to expose without a lightmeter. I sold it and eventually ended up with a M2, M6 and CLE. Barnacks are like jewels in their construction.

I own an M2 and an M6, but I use my iiic just as much as my Ms. I love Barnacks. Sure, they are a little fussier in terms of loading the film and the separate rangefinder and viewfinder, as well as lack of frame lines, but otherwise I really don't find it much different than my M2. I love its construction and how the whole thing works like a Swiss watch. In fact, I find the magnified rangefinder screen of my iiic easier and more precise to focus than either of my Ms.
