Another photograph of the muddy road in Paulding County, Ohio.I posted the first photograph that I made of it last week, a few posts up in this thread.

This garage stands behind an old house on Wells Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is a basketball backboard over the main door to the right, but the hoop is missing.


I photographed it in January. Nine years ago, I photographed a porch swing on the front of the house.

I made this photograph of my mother's cat, Precious, sleeping in her cat tree a couple weeks ago. She woke up and the light coming through the patio doors made her eye glow!

This is Township Road 152, just east of State Route 49, in rural Paulding County, Ohio. The muddy dirt road has to be the worst road that I have ever seen in the midwestern United States! The sign says "Road Closed When Wet," and you can see why!


I photographed it on a rainy, foggy morning in February.

I don't think I've ever seen that sign before! I can see why it's needed there. Great atmospherics.

I've never seen such a sign either. The closest thing I've seen is in some rural areas in Indiana, roads can flood during times of heavy rain. The roads that have this happen have metal gates that the county road department will actually close when the roads flood to keep idiots from trying to drive through the high water. The gates have signs that say "Road closed due to high water."

Sherlock is one of the two resident cats at Hyde Brothers Books in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He is quite fat (even his tail is thick!) because he spends most of his time lounging and eating. He's not very sociable, and gets annoyed with me for photographing him.

Hyde Brothers is an incredible locally-owned used book store on Wells Street in Fort Wayne. As long as I can remember, they've always had at least one cat in residence.

I made this photograph back in February, before everything shut down here because of the Corona Virus.

The old Milan Center School is located on the southeast corner of Doty Road and Milan Center Road in rural Allen County, Indiana. The building is built in the style of a one-room schoolhouse, but it is much larger and has several classrooms.


Milan Center School originally opened in 1906 as a three room public school and it closed in 1972. The school was used as a Christian school or a church at some point. The classrooms are still decorated with religious signs, crosses, and Bible verses. It is currently owned by Milan Center Feed and Grain, which has a grain elevator and store across the street and an office building next to the school.


The crossroads where this building is located is marked on maps as a town called Milan Center, but there is no town. Its just a crossroads with a grain elevator, a church, and this former school. There are no houses nearby, just farmland.

Your sense of composition is tremendous. Lots of foreground.......have you ever considered shooting stereo? A $50 Stereo Realist will Reeeealy open your eyes and give you another plane of expression.

I enjoy seeing your photos Chris. Last Winter I drove through the MidWest to deliver a car, the last time I drove through was 1984. This time I could appreciate the beauty, history and sense of loss.

Ambro, I never considered stereo. It looks neat but there's no way to get people to see them as they should be seen (as stereo images). My website is how most people see my work, and even in a gallery exhibit it would require every image to have a stereo viewer for visitors to look into.

This house is on Lake Avenue, between Dearborn Street and Loree Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. An American flag hangs in the front window. I photographed it last week.

This section of Lake Avenue just east of Downtown was once a wealthy neighborhood. Today, most of the large old houses in the neighborhood have been subdivided into apartments.

Thanks, Mike. The windows are awesome, and no, they don't build stuff like that anymore. Houses built around here now are built with the cheapest crap materials available and sold for a fortune. The house in that photo is 100 years old, and I doubt many houses built today will last that long.

Durnell's is a locally-owned restaurant on the corner of Broadway and Huestis Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana.


The sign on the side of the building says: "We have some great food. Try us! Serving 68 years." I photographed it last week.

Some great news came in the mail today. Last month, I applied for an artists' grant from the Community Foundation of Fort Wayne. I got a check in the mail for $800 and a letter saying I'd been awarded one of the grants! This will help us a lot.
