Some new photos from Fort Wayne

How wonderful to live in a house full of family memories, at least four generations worth, counting your son! So few of us are so fortunate; our mobile, unrooted lives come at such a cost of lost traditions and history.

Yeah, it is. My grandparents bought the house in the late 1950s. They were my mother's parents, and she was 8 or 9 years old at the time. When grandma died, my mom and her brother inherited the house, and they sold it to my son who now owns it.

Here's another photo of the Rose of Sharon flowers:

I photographed this pink Rose of Sharon flower early in the morning, before it had opened for the day. These flowers close each evening and reopen in the mornings.

Not exactly in Fort Wayne, but pretty close.

Andy, that came out great! I love the tonality you got from your Monochrome M10.

Andy came up to Fort Wayne last Thursday to hang out with me, and we went up to Magic Wand in Churubusco, a small town a few miles northwest of the city. I've photographed the place a lot over the years, but always in color.

It came out nicely. It was great to meet you and I'm glad we ended up at such an iconic place. Next time, we'll have to do more shooting though. ;-)

Yeah, we need to get together earlier in the day, definitely want to do more shooting. I still want to try your Chinese replica 35mm Summicron!

I figured you'd like Magic Wand, its a neat place to photograph, and I like the food, too.

kendallville-autoparts-5.jpg

Kendallville Auto Parts is a locally owned auto parts store on the corner of Main Street and Mitchell Street in the small town of Kendallville, Indiana.

This is the kind of locally-owned auto parts store I remember from my childhood, before the big chains like AutoZone came to Indiana. The owner told me that his father opened the store in 1972. He said they have so much old stuff in stock that the second floor is also full of car parts.

I made this photograph of the trailer park across the street from my house early this morning right before dawn. The trailer park is called Cozy Acres; it is located on the corner of Sandpoint Road and Arbor Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

This is the first of two photographs that I made in my neighborhood this morning before the fog lifted.

A car drives over a railroad crossing in the fog yesterday morning right before dawn. I was looking east on Sandpoint Road in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

This is the second of two photographs that I made in my neighborhood yesterday morning.
