Some new photos from Fort Wayne

patriotic-kid-2017-fireworks.jpg

This little boy was watching the 2017 Fourth of July fireworks in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with his mom and grandpa. He had the American flag painted on his belly!

Now here is something that one rarely sees in small-town Indiana: a strip club!

Stimmelator's Gentleman's Club is in North Webster, a small town surrounded by lakes in Kosciusko County. In the summer, the area draws in large numbers of tourists and people from northern Indiana's cities who own cottages on the lakes.

I do hope the sign saying "Carry-out" only applies to the beer and liquor!

The sky in Fort Wayne at sunset on the Fourth of July. I made these photos while walking through downtown to get to the park where people were going to watch the fireworks.

heart-ride.jpg

This young man and his daughter are waiting for the Heart Flip ride to begin at the 2017 Three Rivers Festival in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.

This is the first year that I have seen the Heart Flip ride at the festival. The ride's large metal hearts seat two people, across from each other. A wheel in the middle lets them spin the heart around its vertical axis while the heart swings in a large circle around the outside of the ride.

The festival began a couple days ago and runs the rest of the week. I'll be posting more photos soon.

A ferris wheel in motion at the 2017 Three Rivers Festival at Headwaters Park in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I photographed it on the second night of the annual nine day long festival.

airplane-moon.jpg

I was photographing the moon in the early morning sky at dawn when a Fedex airplane flew across the sky past the moon!

I made this photograph Tuesday morning, looking west from a spot near my house in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I live a couple miles from Fort Wayne International Airport; and airplanes constantly fly over my neighborhood.

churubusco-rainbow-2.jpg

The June evening when I made this photograph had been a rainy one in the small town of Churubusco, Indiana. As I drove into Churubusco around 8:30pm, a large rainbow appeared, stretching over the businesses on the east side of US-33 at the southern end of the town.

This is the boldest rainbow that I have ever seen in Indiana. They usually appear much fainter than this one did, and this was a double rainbow!

I made several photographs of the rainbow. In this one, it stretches across the sky over the Egolf's IGA Supermarket.

I haven't posted anything new in a while; I haven't felt well the last couple weeks.

Here is something new I shot a couple days ago:

lomont1930-barn.jpg

This farm is on Girard Road, just north of US-30, near Besancon in rural east Allen County, Indiana. I photographed it from US-30.

The sign on the barn, under the American flag, says: "Allen J. Lomont 1930." The tall pole next to the silo holds a small wind-power generator.

bill-christie.jpg

Bill Christie was the last owner of Sunny Schick Camera Shop in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.

When I first began shopping there, nearly 30 years ago, the store was owned by Bill's father, Dana. Bill began working at Sunny Schick when Dana bought the store in 1980, and he took over when Dana retired in 2002.

I made this portrait of Bill on July 29; the 90 year old store's last day in business. Bill was retiring and closing the store after a six week long going out of business sale.
