Lovely abstractions of the sky, Chris. You and others might enjoy Keith Carter's recent color work, similar but less abstract, done while under Covid restrictions. It was amazing to see him pivot from his usual work to pursue these recent images, an excellent example of making a virtue of necessity. I found it inspiring that he did so, and it stopped my whining about my inability to shoot during The Pestilence.

This pallet flag is displayed in front of a house on Core Street, between Stenger Street and Rupp Court, in the small town of Woodburn, Indiana.
Pallet flags are a popular form of folk art in Indiana. This one says "God Bless" and has stars made of children's handprints.

This building is on the corner of Main Street (State Road 63) and Center Street (State Road 31) in the village of Medina, New York. It is a storefront commercial building facing Main Street; this bricked-up window is on the south end of the building, along Center Street.
The building is built on a hill, so the road and sidewalk in front of it are sloped downward at a strong angle.

There has been a trend in the last 20 years or so of cities and towns having large fiberglass animals painted by local artists and sponsored by local businesses to raise money for charity. In 2019, the small town of New Haven, Indiana did this with fiberglass bulldogs (the Bulldog is the local high school's mascot). The New Haven bulldogs were a fundraiser for The New Haven Community Foundation.
This one stands in front of Murphy Insurance on Broadway in New Haven. On the side of the bulldog is Murphy's Law: "If something can go wrong, it will." A good reason to buy insurance!
New Haven is a small town on the eastern edge of the much larger city of Fort Wayne. When I was young, New Haven was a couple miles east of the city, but both Fort Wayne and New Haven have grown and now have a long common border.

At this point, all of us shooting film with ageing cameras are only too familiar with "Murphy's Law"! A good reason to buy insurance, in the form of more cameras. Another excuse for GAS.

This building is on the northeast corner of Main Street and South Street in the small town of Monroeville, Indiana. Built in 1895, it has been home to Patriot Pizza, a locally owned pizzeria, for many years. There used to be a large American flag painted on the side of the building on the South Street side of the building, but it was painted over several years ago.
The building next to the pizzeria is a small locally owned liquor store called Monroeville Liquors.

This house is on the west side of Wells Street, between Archer Avenue and Putnam Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is patriotically decorated with two American flags, a tinsel star, and bunting.

San Juan Catholic Church is an ancient church is in the tiny village of Soham on the eastern slopes of the Sangre de Christo Mountains of northern New Mexico. It is on the south side of County Road B41A, just west of Calle Loma.
I made this photograph back in 2006, when I was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Just found it in my archives! This church has since been remodeled. The bell tower is gone, and the bell has been moved to a belfry on top of the church. You can see it on Google Street View.

This old woman was sitting in front of the Phillips 66 gas station on the corner of South Street and Allen Street in the small town of Monroeville, Indiana. She said that she worked at the tavern next door to the gas station, and had gotten there too early; so she was waiting for it to open so she could go to work.
Monroeville is a small farming community in southeast Allen County, not far from the Indiana-Ohio state line.

One of the classroom doors inside the old Milan Center School on the corner of Doty Road and Milan Center Road in rural Allen County, Indiana. The bumper sticker on the door has a phrase taken from the Bible. "Behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2"
Milan Center School originally opened in 1906 as a three room public school and it closed in 1972. The school was used as a Christian school or a church at some point. The classrooms are still decorated with religious signs, crosses, and Bible verses. It is currently owned by Milan Center Feed and Grain, which has a grain elevator and store across the street and an office building next to the school.
The crossroads where this building is located is marked on maps as a town called Milan Center, but there is no town. Its just a crossroads with a grain elevator, a church, and this former school. There are no houses nearby, just farmland.
This is the first of eight photographs that I have made of the Milan Center School.

The USA has private schools and public schools. Public schools are not religious, but most of the private schools are.
