Some new photos from Fort Wayne

The back of the main screen, near the entrance to the Huntington Twin Drive-In Theatre. The drive-in, which has two screens, is located on Condit Street, just south of Old US-24, in the small town of Huntington, Indiana.

I haven't posted much in the last year and a half due to health problems. I'm trying to get back to my fine art photography and documentary projects, and last week I went out and spent a day in some small towns I have not visited in nearly 20 years.

This hot rod stretched limo was sitting next to the garage as Eel River Rod and Customs just outside the small town of North Manchester, Indiana. I've never seen a hot rod limousine; and it has Texas Longhorn cow horns on the front! "Hot Rod Power Tour 2025" is painted on the side windows. The Confederate flag license plate says "In God We Trust."

I photographed it last Friday. I'll be posting more photos from that day over the course of this week!

Burger Dairy is a convenience store located in a little shopping center on Wells Street, just north of Third Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The banner in the window says "We Are Open!" The store had been closed for a long time after a car drove through the brick storefront in December, 2023. You can see that some of the brickwork looks newer than the rest of the brick facade.

The red awning over the store used to say "Discount Tobacco."

The former City Hall building in the small town of Akron, Indiana. The brick building, whose garage doors have been covered in corrugated steel, is on Rochester Street (State Road 14), between Mishawaka Street and Center Street. An Indiana state flag flies from the front of the building.

I found it on Maps. It looks like a very clean little town.

It is. I hadn't been there in 20 years! I drove through several small towns that day: North Manchester, Akron, and Rochester. Had intended to visit the next town on the highway, Winamac, but it began to rain hard so I went back to Fort Wayne. All three towns I went through are nice places; Rochester and N. Manchester are a little bigger and nicer.
