Some newbie questions for posting photos

Hi; I am new to this forum and have just created a photo gallery to exhibit some of the shots I brought back from Hawaii (All of them from a Leica M6 so I hope that qualifies me to ask questions here). But after I uploaded the photos, I found that all of them have doubled, like I uploaded twice or something. And I seem to have a hard time deleting the duplicates. Any easy way to delete them? And what did I do wrong the first time?

Also can someone tell me that, when I uploaded photos to "my gallery", will that automatically post the photos to the forum for viewing by everyone?

Thanks.

Yes, when you post to your gallery, your uploaded images are immediately added to the recent uploads slots in the main gallery.

As for the "doubling" I think that when you add your photos to a "public" gallery it goes there as well as in your personal gallery. So, it appears to be doubled. I think in reality the site is displaying a database record of your image twice.

The approach I think works best here is to upload to the Member gallery only (you can choose the gallery to upload to, using the drop-down menus in the second step). By uploading to the Member gallery you can include all the camera and film specifications. Later once your work has passed through the recent uploads, you can move images to YOUR individual galleries by using "Edit Photo." It sounds like you uploaded to more than one gallery, and yes it is a pain to delete the duplicates.

BTW, here is a friendly bit of advice: take care not to upload too many photos to the gallery at one time. A lot of us here consider this to be in poor form. While there is no stated limit, your upload shouldn't result in your work taking up the whole Recent Uploads, being a new member you couldn't have know that, but hang out here and you'll get the gist of things. :D

Thank you both. You are the most helpful. I will take a note of it.

Oh yeah...You should be able to delete images using 'Edit Photo' (click on your image, it'll be just beneath it, IIRC). In the past when I've done this the thumbnails got all screwed up, so you may have to replace the image (again in 'Edit Photo'). :)

Yeah, I did that, one by one. A lot of pain. Wish there is a batch deletion function. Oh well...
