Some really cool leica stuff coming

....and what part of this don't you understand? 😛
Water proofing a camera that's fondled and used by 'rich hobbyists' or water proofing a camera that's gonna be used by some of the top pros in their field. 😀

Status symbol crowd vs the pro market.

Some new found respect for Leica.

The Rodney Dangerfield segment of Leica's business is....? 🙄

Fully agree.

And with the new lense announcements for the M-mount (especially the Noctilux remaining a 50mm rather than a 35), I really get the feeling that far from being neglected, a full-frame M is in the works.

Gotta say, disappointed with the M8.2, but the S-system and the new lenses really give me hope for the future!

Of course, the new S2 is water proof. No one would buy it otherwise. But the M8.2, no water proofing needed.

No kidding. They evidently know their market very well, and what each market will tolerate. 😛

It's great to see that Leica IS still capable of innovation. Who'd-a-thunk it with the literal translation of M3-to-M8. So I'll remain hopeful that they'll keep making the M8 for the old skool, but make a digital M body closer in spirit to this S2 in the future. 🙂

@kevin - yes kinda like the M7 / MP duality. there will always be the M8.2 for the romanticists while the M9 sets aside the historical baggage.
