Just thought I'd share how one loose screw on my iii c caused me to loose half a roll of film.

This happened with a iii c that I had just purchased. The 4th roll I put through the camera came out half blank. I shot 5 frames of a new roll and developed just those. Came out fine so I shot the rest of the roll and other than the first three frames the rest of the negatives was clear.

I took the lens off and noticed that after shooting a few frames, the shutters would just slide together, even at slow speeds. Resetting the reversing level seemed to fix the problem, but just for a little while. I took it back to the shop I bought it from, and after both of us looking at it we realized that the reversing lever was really loose. Turns out if it's placed in the middle the shutter will still cock, but the curtains will just slide across the frame together with no gap. Tightening down the screw on the lever and making sure it was completely engaged fixed the problem.

I never had this problem on my other iii c so I didn't even notice the looseness of the lever, but I'm glad it turned out to be such an quick and easy fix.
