Sometimes near, sometimes far

I tend to get bored with the documentarian portions of the cycle and don't do a very good job of them. So there are many places from which I've made my most satisfying photographs but I have no "overview" photos to describe what the place is overall, just my more abstractive, intensional stuff. I don't feel much of a lack myself because I remember the places well, but it sure gets in the way when I'm trying to show photographs of "how I spent my trip to the UK" to others who have no context of the places I've been. 🙂

Interesting point! This is why when we travel I like my wife takes "normal" photos, in a documentary style. I feel free to make my own photos without any pressure to bring back the document for the family album! She does it!
It's good to be complementary!

And I am free to follow my creative style!

Where and When

Where and When

I have always enjoyed making photographs walking the streets and byways. I found that in Europe it was much easier to make street photography than in the US. Shooting nature of course is not a problem and I enjoyed being out early or late to capture the elusive snagglefrump. Now due to age and accompanying ailments my walking is more like slow crawl. Of necessity I am restricted to the “near” rather than the “far”.
