Sony, Nikon got too overwhelmed by silliness and price hikes.
But I'll probably wait for the next FF offering and see what that entails.

I have the 15mm Voigtlander Heliar f4.5. Does anyone have an idea of issues with wide angles of this sort, like chromatic aberration or severe vignetting?

I understand lenses like my 35mm summicron are fine, as is my Nikkor 24mm, but those Heliar 12 and 15mm could make that sensor act up a bit.

Is it actually possible with focus peaking the a7 will be better with manual focus nikkors than the Nikon DF, without split prism screen?

I've never used a evf so am in the dark...

I guess the point reading this thread is that things started to get interesting in the digital front. It seems to me that a lot of people were really craving for what these 2 cameras are offering: ie a well-made body (ie non plastic) at a size that would not scare children and alarm security guards. Although I have my reservations I would go with the Df probably because of lenses, looks and optical viewfinder.

If the DF had a better MF screen/set-up, I would not hesitate. But the very thing that draws me to Nikon (lots of Ai and Ais glass) turns me off because of the damned screen. At this point I would probably go for a D600 and try to save the money and still get a FF sensor.

I did not read up on the A7r until the DF was announced, and all I know about either is what I've read on the internet.

I am now amazed at the A7r (don't look at the $$$$) and most likely if I had a lot of cash, it would be at the top of my must-have list.

Makes me feel guilty - I'm generally a Nikon (& Fuji) kind of guy.

I haven't had a chance to touch a Df yet, but I believe I would enjoy using it more than the A7. I did not like the A7 at all when I got a change to try it a little. Just wasn't for me.

I'd pick a different Nikon body as I think the DF is overly complex (as well as somewhat bloated looking). I have a few pre-AI and AI series Nikkors, it would be nice to have a Nikon body to use them on besides my F. I've often considered picking up a nice clean D700.

I am also interested in the Sony A7r body, but I don't think Leica M lenses are the right match for it. They'll have all the same corner/edge issues that they have even with the Leica M digitals due to the tight mount registration and their optical designs. The best sensor match will be either new Zeiss/Sony lenses designed for it, or SLR lenses. I have a nice brace of lovely Leica R lenses (50 to 180mm) that will likely work beautifully on it, and it would be a nice excuse to pick up an additional 20-24mm Leica R lens. ;-)

(Of course, my Nikkors would also work very nicely on the A7r.)

The Sony. I have old Nikon glass, but I'd rather have a body that's not nearly as bulky and heavy as the Df. I'm completely sold on the Alpha/NEX control system, and I know from experience that the A7/R are nicely solid with a great EVF. Plus, I have lenses that I'll want to use that I can adapt to E-mount and not F-mount.
