Sony NEX and a CV 21/4

Just started playing around with this combo. I'll be darned even wide open it is almost in focus from end to end. At 5.6 it is a dream. Way better and faster than autofocus and cropping out at 31mm, not bad.🙂

Yes, it's a great match with the nex. I always go out with either that lens, or the kit 16 to cover the wide end.

I am new to this, digital stuff. But if I am not mistaken, when I use the CV 21, I hardly have to focus making it a speed demon for. Daily use. so aren't I one up on FF users who have to use a 35mm lens to get the same form factor, but not the focus advantage?

Well, the FF users could theoretically get similar image quality at a higher ISO setting. The higher ISO would allow them to stop down more and end up with the same DoF.

It's kind of a wash until you start dealing with low light or trying to get LESS DoF.

it's a sweet lens, so tiny and light. The only issue is major color shift, and I still have to find or create a profile for cornerfix

it could be mistaken for a bright sky in the upper center, but the sun was not there, hehe.

... this thread, but I am currently considering a Nex for my ZM lenses. And while I was reading, wondering whether pano mode would work with legacy lenses, I came across this:



So it seems the answer is yes? I am asking because I'm considering getting the Nex w/o any e-Mount lenses. So basically I want to know: is there anything I can NOT do w/ legacy lenses? (other than autofocus, duh).

I am still getting to know mine but I don't think you can do auto ISO. Or P and S exposure mode.

Good luck finding the body only new. Here in the US you can only buy it with one of the lenses.

Other than losing all automation, (shooting totally manual works great) I'd say go for it!

I was able to find two Nex-3 body-onlys here in the USA without too much trouble.

I have to say, the camera works really well in all manual, esp. since you use the aperture ring on the lens.

All this would seem to be counter - intuitive since the NEX has considerably fewer buttons than other compacts. Yet it's true. But it takes a while to figure it out. Very simple once you understand it.
