I used to have a 5n, now have a 6... Both used mostly with M mount lenses.

Focus peaking is about the fastest way to manual focus on any camera (very accurate for me, no matter what anyone says).

Be careful though -- occasionally lenses (especially wide ones) have issues. This is more of a problem on the NEX-7 however. The 5 or 6 are the ones to go for.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first real outing with my NEX-6 and v2 35mm Summicron today. Peaking works well and is pretty seamless. I was pleased as Punch to be able to use M glass on a digital body!

FWIW, the RainbowImaging adapter I purchased from Amazon works well and I'm satisfied with it. No issues, everything is secure.

Nope. Part of the reason I bought into the NEX system was a concern about the value of my Leica glass - if something were to happen to my 35 Cron ASPH, there's no way I could afford replacing it. Besides, I don't want to deal with the crop.

I agree with what has been said here about the Ricoh GXR being the best mirrorless solution for M lenses. I owned a 5N and a GXR+M mount module. The sharpness difference in the edges/corners, even with a 35mm. RF lens was noticeable in favour of the GXR. All NEX cameras have issues with RF wides; the NEX-7 seems the worse in this aspect, but even the NEX 5N & 6 are just O.K. Leicas from 16 to 28, Zeiss Biogons or CV Heliars 12 & 15 will underperform in a NEX.
Unfortunately, it seems that the continuity/update of the GXR system is very doubtful. Ricoh hasn't said a official word about their intentions since they released the last module, long time ago.

Have had Nex 3 and 5n. IMHO even though the Ricoh is a 12mp sensor, I think overall iq from it is still better than the nex5n. When u talk about wides angle lenses, it is definitely better than the 5n.

If it was not for the Fuji xp1 and the sigma dp Merrill's, I would most definitely be using the Ricoh more than I am today.

I use my NEX cams (3 and 7) with MF and AF lenses.

AF: 2.8/16, 2.8/19, 2.8/30, 18-55OSS, 55-210OSS, Wideangle-Converter
MF: Oh boy, way to much to list them here, but preferably rangefinder lenses and Hexanon, Rokkor and Zuiko SLR lenses (they are pretty small and match the NEX quite well).

Another no here.

I use Nex 5N with Leica M, Olympus OM and M42 lenses. I don't have an AF lens or any intention of buying any, though there are some tempting Sony and Sigma lenses out there.

If you want a NEX + M Lens, get a GXR instead. Much nicer focussing aid, much better ergonomics, superb image quality.

GXR Assist Mode2 has the advantage that it uses a high pass filter, so it really highlights the most contrasty things, not just everything that has high contrast.

focusing a 28/2.8 is much easier for me with the GXR than with the NEX-5N + EVF I also owned.

Yes, NEX 6.

But I already have the Ricoh GXR, which does a great job, and an Olympus E-PL1 (works better with other adaptations like C-mount), has in-body image stabilization).

I have little interest in buying another lens system. Between the remains of my FourThirds SLR system, the older Nikkor macros, a couple of oddball one offs, and the M-bayonet lenses, I'm pretty much done.

The size difference is huge though. But I agree on the cost. Which is why I like my Canon LTM 35/1.8. 🙂

Agreed, Auto-ISO is one of the very few things where I think Sony crippled the NEX. Why isn't there an option to limit its range, or set at what shutter speed it kicks in? Fortunately it can be turned off in the PASM modes..
