Sony NEX5 and Nikon rf lens

Guys... some one can help me and give also more than one answer, at my questions.

Is the Sony NEX 5 a good digital shooter for my Nikon rangefinder Lens?
i wish to use from 25 mm to 350 mm all the lens i have.

In alternative, except Epson RD and Leica M8, whic other body is the most indicate, at a reasonable, i don't like to spend too much in digital, price?

Just bear in mind that the adapter for this camera will only allow external mount lenses.

I used NEX3 extensive on RF lens testing. With a few exceptions, such as 21mm Biogon and 21 Nikon, others work fine and the crop factor is smaller at 1.5 only. And it is cheaper the 4/3. Two adopters are required, expensive.

Yes you are absolutely correct. What I should have said is that the Cameraquest adapter will only let you mount external mount Nikon RF lenses.

Although using two different adapters is possible to get the end result of mounting an internal Nikon RF lens, it becomes a costly investment approaching $560.00 for the combined cost, plus from my experience of using two adapters its is not always successful because you are mounting SIX surfaces together .
1 rear lens mount.
2 front mount adapter one.
3 rear mount of adapter one.
4 front mount of adapter two.
5 rear mount of adapter two.
6 lens body mount of camera.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has any success using this system to mount a Nikon RF internal mount lens on the Sony and get true infinity focus.

Member Goliathus succesfully uses a nex5 with Nikon RF lenses. I asked him about it in this other thread http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95251 . I bought a nex5 myself a couple of weeks ago, and I intend to use it with my Nikon rf lenses (i bought it mostly for this purpose). I ordered a SonyE-leica M adapter which I did not receive yet. I will combine it with a leica M- Nikon RF adapter (which incidentally I bought from you, Stefano) I believe this kit will work with most lenses including at infinity. I think it will even work with Contarex lenses with no focus shift because you focus directly in the screen, not through the rangefinder.

Check also Goliathus blog, where he has plenty of photos taken with the nex and rf lenses.

I add I might also buy a VC nex to nikon rf adapter from Cameraquest even if I do not need it. But I think VC support to revitalise the nikon rf mount must be rewarded.

The total of two adopters (Nikon RF external - M) + (M - NEX) is around US$150 in Hong Kong. I use a Contax RF - M mount that works on both internal and external mount but infinity is not good. I have to turn a bit back to get it done. So the tolerance becomes a real problem for this case.

I use an Olympus EP2 with my Nikon S-Mount and Contax RF mount lenses. Used wide-open, I rely on the External Viewfinder for accurate focus. I cannot use the LCD on the back of the camera for taking pictures.

Does Sony plan on introducing an External Electronic Viewfinder, like the Olympus finder, for the NEX series? I would be surprised if they do not, and essentialy "obsolete" the current cameras, akin to what Olympus did with the EP1.

I am using 3 adapters actually:

Amedeo Contax RF to LTM
LTM to M
M to NEX (Metabones)

Works very well. Adding an LTM extension tube turns my Sonnar into a macro (this one shot at f/1.5)

The Nikkor 21/4 indeed does not mount on a NEX body via a S/SC-E adapter. I think due to the metal tab protruding from the rear of the lens. In fact it won't even mount on a Bessa R2S. AFAIK this lens can only be used with a Nikon RF.

I wonder if the Biogon 21/4.5 can be modified to mount on a NEX body via a S/SC-E adapter...?

21/4.5 Biogon on NEX, very risky. I have both. Even if the protection ring around the rear element is removed, it is too big enough to fix inside. Biogon 35 & Planar 35 and other Nikon RF wide angle lenses (except 21/4) are all ok.

The W-Nikkor 2.5cm f4 will mount, of course, but a little tricky to focus.

I heard about the amedeo and kipon adapters but they are very costly.
So i was wondering if there is any cheaper alternative.

Internal mount adapters require focusing helicals, which raises the price accordingly.

Yes, no cheap one for internal mount. External mount is cheap now, properly around US$40~50 only from China. It is not really need to buy expensive one as long as you can focus to infinity (some may be slightly thinker).
