Sony rumored to reveal full-frame NEX-FF on September 24th

No IBIS though. -- --
Any comment?
Sony knows how to play the forced upgrade game. IBIS will be there for a future model with some other minor improvements.

As long as there are video lenses (AF zooms) with IS, I am fine with no IBIS. It would be great to have but not a sufficient reason to skip/upgrade. For me having no IBIS mostly affects video use.

"Sony knows how to play the forced upgrade game"
Exactly
And this is precisely what I want to dodge
At time of film you bought the M you preferred and it could be your for ever camera
I want to plateau, to plateau as much as possible
FF, great specs, IBIS, >50 Mpix (which correspond to the pixel density of NEX7 half FF)etcetera
Don't like to spend say 3000 euros every two years

Yes, in that case it may be a good idea to wait 2014/2015 releases. Unless you need a new camera before that.

man everything was going well until i saw that sketch, which is most likely what it will look like according to sony rumors.

i don't think it's progressive to include that SLR type look with the prism to mirrorless cameras. didn't enjoy how the olympus omd looked either because of that.

it gets in the way and you can't pocket it, unless i'm off by a longshot on the size.

If it's got an EVF with adjustable diopter, is full frame, and can take my Leica M glass, I don't give a hoot what it looks like.

Best,
-Tim

Don't anyone assume that simple concept sketch is what it will really look like. Who drew it? At what stage in the design, early, middle, late? Is Sony using the common marketing ploy of showing one concept model, then producing something quite different?

Analyzing a concept drawing is like analyzing internet rumors to decide if an unknown product is "going to be good." - a very illogical endeavor.

SAR: On Boards.4chan.org someone reported this: “Just got info from a source. Launching with crappy 28-70 non 2.8 lens. AU1999 and AU2499 body only. 3 prime lenses to be released later. Heres the kicker. Initial promo offers a free mount adaptor for either Canon, Nikon or Leica. Personally i think the camera looks kinda ugly, but im sure it will ahake up the market.”

A bigger version with IBIS and perhaps even sensor focus will come in January, according to earlier SAR post.

I want the smallest possible, so A7r will be fine.

A really useful adapter for Canon, or Nikon would be a bit much to hope for. A dumb adapter for 'M' lenses would be more realistic.

Follow the link for the adapter rumor and you will find that the whole thread is suspect. Many are unable to post without using profanity.

Many are unable to speak without using profanity. In that category, you can include some of the most brilliant scientists, politicians and photographers.

:)

Since smart adapters are expensive, I'm sure you're right all three are dumb. If that aspect of the rumor is true at all.

the design clues from the rumor sites suggest a top middle EVF: worst decision ever in my opinion. i hate pressing my nose against displays. it's an EVF damnit, they could put it wherever they can and they choose not to put it on the left corner? I know there are left eyed people but most are right eyed, right? And the left eyed folks do not even have an advantage from a middle finder, or do they (I really don't know)?
The finder is what I love the most about the X100 (and I actually use the parallax "haunted" OVF more than the EVF). And they already have it at the right spot in their Nex6 and 7.

Not so bad here... I'd use that thing.

Finally. Next to the digital Leicas the first full frame camera that can take most legacy glass.

Watch Leica lens prices (old and new) climb even higher. Don't sell your Summicron just yet. :)

Roland.

it is true game changer. Nikon and Canon cannot push their old dSLR's and pretend world around them isn't changing. m4/3's seems so small from now on. Leica, lens sales probably benefit from this, but smallest ff-camera status is gone. what will be Fuji's response?

I just saw this (Believe it when you see it):

http://www.cameraegg.org/sony-nex-ff-cameras-a7-a7r-specs-leaked/
Here are the leaked specs:

Sony A7 has 24MP sensor with on sensor PDAF and AA filter.
Sony A7R has 36MP sensor without PDAF and without AA filter.
Sony A7/A7R AF speed is faster than the RX series but still not as fast as the best in the mirrorless world
Sony A7/A7R have eye tracking AF
Sony A7/A7R have focus peaking
A7/A7R has same design, and same size as Olymus OM-D series
No IBIS
Have an integrated EVF on top (middle) of the camera.
optional vertical grip
Wi-Fi and NFC
No Tri Navi
1/8000 shutter speed
Tiltatble screen
Sony A7 with 28-70mm f/3-5-5.6 kit lens price under $2,000
Sony A7R Body Only cost around $2,500
Announcement on October 16, 2013.

it's an otherwise perfectly nice looking, superbly speced camera RUINed by those four hieroglyphic characters on the hump which spell anathema to the totally cool: SONY.

;)

DSLR autofocus will be dramatically better. Sports and birds are still not E-mount friendly.
