It's past Sept. 24. What happened? Was the rumor true?

Rumor is now mid-october.

Sony's feel like consumer devices instead of cameras a lot of the time. I hope they prove me wrong this time, but they won't.
This is a pretty good definition, they are.
I am fine with that.

do any of the rumors talk about the lens mount?
will it have the same NEX mount?
or will FF mean a new mount ?
Stephen
There already is a full frame e-mount camera.

And here are samples with Leica / Zeiss lenses

There are so many things that Sony has to get right for me to invest in a new system.
The autofocus needs to be faster than my wife's NEX-6, or the sensor's microlenses will need to play better with my Biogons. If autofocus, it will need to be able to track fast moving subjects.
The EVF will have to be a big step up from the NEX-6.
So, the rumor of two Sony FF cameras are pretty lame. The appeal has more to do with actual performance. I have a feeling that I'll be saving my money.

Latest rumours indicate the microlenses are indeed optimized (offset I guess) for corner performance with FF lenses.
Both versions (24MP and 36MP) have an EVF - excellent. I hope that MF will be a "picture-in -picture" type of deal.
I also hope they ditch the lossy RAW compression that makes all files the same size regardless of content and makes a mockery of the 14-bit readout from the sensor.
I have an MC/MD-NEX adapter that I bought a while back and a bunch of Minolta lenses acquired over the years - it sure would be sweet to be able to use them on a compact, FF camera...

I'm surprised there's not more excitement for this camera. There's more specs for it out here:

It will basically be a universal receiver for any legacy 35mm lens you have laying around. I realize that the super-wides from Leica might not be optimized, but that is not a concern for me, as I rarely go wider than a 35. I guess we're getting harder to impress?

It's hard to get into Sony stuff if you are used to Leica. So very different ergonomically. The Fuji is the better fit for the person who is used to Leica. However, I'm sure some are just waiting to hear more about how it works with legacy lenses before getting crazy.

I am actually quite excited about this. If the rumors are true we get the Nikon D800E sensor optimized for use as a digital back for our M lenses. Now if Sony would put it in an RX1 style body with a state of the art EVF...

I would be very interested, if the price comes down below 2 grand. But may be interested above that price. I don't care if the "feel" is like shooting an old Argus C3, getting a "better feel" and a Leica logo isn't worth 4 thousand dollars more to me.

It is an interesting camera but for sure no digital RF so I don't get all the hot air in this thread.
Can't compare a EVF with a OVF (especially not with one that has a real focus aid). I'd rather want a M240, but I've got no money for either one anyway.
Maybe one day for baby/kid photos I could see a Sony FF in my possession (assuming moderate second hand prices)

It really is hard to justify that 4 thousand dollar Leica Premium - especially when the other choices seem better from a technology stand point. This new sony may actually put downward pressure on used m9s

Well, I suppose my problem is that beyond the wonderment some legacy lenses can bring to the mix -I always tended to have better results with native lenses.

You are right about that. I use a canon with canon L lenses for my professional work (architecture). For my personal work (street) i really enjoy slowing down with an xpro 1 and leica M lenses.

I'm excited
I'll be very happy to use a dslr style camera with a high quality evf.
Have a hex limited f1.2/50 that will fit fantastically in such a body.
I just hope there is a shutter speed dial and a good moulded in grip ala Pany GH3.
A center place VF is just fine with me.

This is the one digital camera I am thinking seriously about, provided it will take my old lenses (I suspect the M240 won't!!)
One of my students is a Sony salesman, so I am hoping for some inside-track information.

Ok, let me rephrase it then... the feel they have in common is that they all are ergonomic nightmares with convoluted menu systems...![]()
haha, OK I'll go with that
the A7 will have a grip option i think, but the HUGE deal is:

The sensors are newly developed "Exclusively made for them to overcome the issues of the ultra short flange distance." according to sonyalpharumors. Makes me think Sony would be more than happy to sell this sensor to others to at least recoup costs.
XPro2 could be very interesting
