specs for the upcoming Fuji X-E1 mirrorless camera:

i'm surprised that the e is getting as much positve attention as it is...i thought the optical viewfinder is what everyone wanted but it seems many are ok with a good evf...

It's because the OVF is useless for certain types of photos... it's very finicky. I think I might use the EVF more these days.

John ... you're breaking all the rules here! :D

These X series cameras were launched on the uniqueness of their optical viewfinders and suddenly people are starting to realise a good EVF has it's own unique advantages. Fuji have realised this too obviously!

Although I'm now totally bored with my OM-D  I marvel at just how good the EVF in it is. If this new Fuji can approch or surpass that level it will be a very useful camera ... especially if they give it some manual focus feedback that actually responds quickly to the movement from the lens.

Looks like I'm going to take quite a huge loss on my x-pro1 and 35/1.4 when I sell it in the very near future.

I'm going back to micro four thirds. I like it better for macro work and really that is the only thing I do with digital cameras. Oh well, live and learn. :)

Very remarkable.. The X-E1 and the NEX-6 are sharing the same viewfinder and similar specifications.. Both are to accept other lenses, especially the M-mounts too. Both are compact, very "comfortable" sizes and shapes for hand carrying however if the NEX-6 comes with the same tiltable screen as on the NEX-5N, I think it would make a better camera for street photography. Just my thoughts of course..

Believe me, I still love having the OVF at times too... especially in bright sun. But if you are wide open or close to it and focusing up close... the EVF is the way to do it.
