i'll be asking soon...

photographically speaking, do you have a new year's resolution?

what is it?

soon, i'll be starting a thread, a sticky thread, to ask this question and then we can take a look next christmas time and see who followed through with it.

i have a few ideas but i need to refine them a bit before i post them.

so start thinking of yours and if you already have one, then hold tight till the thread comes.

Well, here's last year's list.

I still have not tried medium format, but the good news is that I finally got the courage and time to work on my autocord paperweight (due to lens fungus) last week. The lens is now crystal clear, and I've got some free Portra 120, so there is no more excuse. ;)

No new gear... except for a fast 35mm (really!... no more after that...). Oh, and shoot more film...

Buy a film scanner, build a darkroom, Develop all my BW film from Europe. Shoot at least one roll of film every two weeks (one pic a day Min.) Buy a fast 50mm. And sit on the computer for less than two hours a day. Build a website.
Oh, and bring my new M4-P with me everywhere i go!

My resolution is to brush the passiveness of those who ignore others.

To embrace the good people who are still good people.

To be myself and not let situations turn my words into something I'm not.

To love those who I love and have neglected.

To not neglect the time I have to improve myself.

To pay it forward.

To do as I preach.

But most importantly, to do things for the love of life. What good is success, family, friends, or anything, without it?

Well said. I see you have been thinking about this for some time. ;)

Very good! We should all be ourselves and love those who love us. We should really love everybody, although sometimes that's hard. Don't mean we have to approve of them.

In that vein, I WILL get my wifes catalog done. After all, she is the one I love most.

My main resolution is to try to avoid buying a DSLR for at least one more year ... though that damned Pentax K10D is tempting.

I shot a lot of film in 2006 and simply want to continue doing this in 2007.

Nice knowing you, Ghost. How will we know you've been reading your books?
Photographically speaking, I er, resolve (hope?) to continue to shoot my industrial ruins/ mining series and promote it better.
This while working and being in school full time...
Happy, safe new year's to all.

to walk & photograph the West Highland Way, midges or not..www.albawest.com

Break your boots in first. My feet are still sore from walking on the bedrock. The hike, however, is awesome. Just keep movin and shoot fast and the midges aren't a problem.

Ok, I'll try to:
shoot more!
stop buying gear on impulse (you see the catch  ).
travel more.
improve my darkroom skills.
try more new things - film is cheap.
do something useful with my prints.

...get a much bigger trash bin for the darkroom.

I have a few photography-related goals this year which I refuse to call resolutions because that's too much pressure. :D
  • Sell or trade off the gear I am not using
  • Get started in large format
  • Learn to develop black and white film
That should keep me busy for a while.

Yay! Looking forward to that, especially to see how things go as you dial in the APX400.
