So the focus on my J8 is nice and smooth, except when its actualy mounted on a camera, then it gets stiff. Its only stiff when its fully screwed in. Can anyone think of a "cure" for it? Maybe some screwes need to be loosened a bit? I think I need to get some tiny screwdrivers.

Be sure that the rf coupling shoe is riding on top of the ring as it should and that it has not got next to the ring instead. Look from the film side to check.

The RF coupling shoe seems to be fine. I just checked, its the same with my other cameras too, even the Zenit-C. And its the only lens it happens to.

It happens when you put this lens on the "C" also?
Sounds like the threaded ring of the lens is uneven or warped, deforming as you tighten it up.

Yeah, that could be it. Luckily, getting a new one wont be a problem. Thanks

is it possible the threaded mount on the camera is the problem? You might be able to just loosen the mount screws a half turn or so and try it. If it threads in and is smooth, then just tighten the screws evenly - tighten one halfway, then the one furthest away from it, and work your way around tightening the screws one by one until they are all tight. If you can do it with the lens mounted, you should be able to get them all tight without pinching the lens mount.

hey, they're only Zorkis
If you can do it with the lens mounted, take a video. I want to see it."...work your way around tightening the screws one by one until they are all tight. If you can do it with the lens mounted, you should be able to get them all tight without pinching the lens mount."
