'urban photo artist'?
Just remind them that Vivian Maier never took any photo courses or joined any clique and she's better than any of them.

It is too bad that someone like Vivian Maier didn't leave any writings on what she thought was doing, how she felt, who she looked at, who her influences were, etc..
Vivian Meier also left behind many audio recordings of her thoughts - most on the news stories of the day and her thoughts of them, but you could gain a lot of insight from them all the same.
The excellent documentary film "Finding Vivian Meier" delved into this.
Who is this kid?
There are quite a few bloggers out there who call themselves "masters" of the street genre. One posts so called "Street Pills", sayings, quips, that pertain to some knowledge of the genre.
While I'm no prude, I thought the latest "Street Pill" was over the top. From his blog titled, "Nasty". A blog that professes an anti-aesthetic attitude for stark contrast and lots of gritty grain. An aesthetic that can be interesting, but I find his images quite lacking.
Your thoughts?
