Do any of you ever do street photography with your TLR? If not, what types of pictures do you use your TLR for the most?

Sure, love using the Rollei for street portraits, candid and asked.

Lots more samples on my Flickr. Focusing is really easy to do and exposure quick to adjust. Love the depth-of-field marker on the Rolleis. Silent shutter and discreet framing make it one of my faves for street shooting.

I've only used my Yashica for street a few times, but it's such fun that I keep meaning to do it again.

In France we have Doisneau who has done all his shots (mainly street shoting) with his Rolleiflex. Lots of hyperfocal work of course.

After WW2, Paris asked for someone to take picture of the "eternal Paris of which remained intact even after years of war and occupation" (sorry, I hate this way of thinking). Doisneau had the contract and then came to fame with his Parisian-iconic shots.

In fact when you are talking about great photogs in France the first name that comes to mind is Doisneau (whereas not the best) and the second is Henri Cartier-Bresson (really better) and eventually Frank Cappa (we totally ignore photogs from abroad... even Eugene Smith !).

Have any of you used different finders for your cameras like the prism and porrofinder? I know mamiya makes them but ive never seen any on Rolleis.

Rollei makes a prism finder but I don't use one. It totally counters the point of having a TLR if you use one.

I have only a yashica, I think a finder , may sound useful, but it is quite heavy, I think it deserve rather than help the photographer who wants to take picture quickly 😉

I am not good at 'street', its a style I need to learn and experiment with, I find myself uncomfy taking photos of strangers, but I realize its the nature of the game, so will hopefully grow into it.
