Havana, on the Prado de Paseo (major pedestrian thoroughfare): I know very well you are not supposed to photograph anything that is military or police in Cuba having been taken to the police station for doing so before. But when I saw this young officer from the "Brigada Especia" with their black uniforms, black berets, shinny black boots who was leading this black police dog, I just had to half way raise my camera and look in his eyes for a response. He stuck this pose for about one second, gave me a slight nod, and walked on as if nothing had happened.

Lovely. In a thread full of soulless walk-by stealth snaps of strangers with zero interaction between the photographer and subject, what a pleasure it is to see some eye contact and a smile!

...and I also agree. Most of the pictures in this thread are street photos rather than street portraits IMO. Very few of my photos are street portraits.
