Hello, everybody:

I bought the Bessa R plus the 35 mm Color Skopar from Stephen Gandy (A BIG thank you to Stephen, BTW), and I love it, except for one very irritating detail: I can't remove the lens hood that came with the lens. I want to remove it to add filters (for B/W photography, and a clear filter to keep the lens clean. I've tried a couple of times to get it off, but I don't really want to put too much stress on the lens itself, so I've just learned to live with it, for now.

Is it possible to screw on a filter with the lens hood in place? It doesn't have to be very tight in the socket; just tight enough so it doesn't fall off will do nicely. Or does someone have a sure-fire method of removing the blasted hood? I've tried using rubber bands, main strength and some of the magic words I learned from Sgt. Hughes when I was in the Army. No go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With best regards,

Steve Mack

if you put too much pressure on it, say with a tight grip, it can make it more difficult, if not impossible, as it seems like it makes it bind up by being out of round.

Place a small piece of rubber on a flat surface. Remove the lens cap and gently press the outer rim of the hood on it. While gently pressing down turn the lens in a counterclockwise direction. Once it comes loose you can then remove by hand..
