Suburban delights

Heywood Park,
Unley Park, Adelaide.
Taken in a quiet little park, nestled in the genteel suburb of Unley Park, Adelaide.
One of the joys of my suburb (nearby and not nearly so salubrious as Unley Park) is the access it provides within a short walk to leafy streets full of large old homes and parks like this.

An inner suburb of Adelaide.
Pictured on King William Road (a suburban extension of King William Street in the nearby CBD) this shot captures the leafiness of these pretty inner suburbs of my home city where there is plenty of opportunity to indulge in a quiet coffee or glass of wine while shopping nearby boutiques.

One of the delights of Adelaide (a small city by world standards of 1.3 million inhabitants is that it its suburbs and the CBD are separated by a band of parklands, inevitably known as "The Parklands" which afford a place for relaxation, games, walking, exercising, picnicking or just taking in the inner suburban touch of nature. Not quite suburban but definitely more suburb than CBD The Parklands are a treasured and closely protected part of Adelaide (protected in fact by legislation to prevent developers and indifferent governments from impinging on it.)

Here, the South Parklands demonstrate a truly Australian summer environment with all of its golden and grey/green summer hues. It is very reminiscent of an Australian "school" of painting dating to the late 19th Century, called the Heidelburg School where such tones and colors are used to great effect.51668960944_d85dfa4e0b_o (1).jpg

Thank you Lynnb. I love this shot too. So much has to be put down to pure luck and conditions on the day as I am sure you know. Though I do take some small kudos from the fact that I was able to see the potential. 🙂
