Sudden lust for a black paint leica.......

What are the differences, if any, between a Leica M6 LHSA and a normal TTL M6? I see from the picture above that the top plate features the old school script. Is that engraved or merely printed?

I ask because there are 'Japan' Leica M6 TTL (0.72) that also have the printed script on the top plate sold around Tokyo and these are cheaper than the LHSA versions.

Tnx

Somehow I always feel a BP looks good when I see someone else carries it but it is over once that person walks past me...

I like the Leica M2 in black paint.

Black paint:

M9, MP, 2x Nikon F, Pentax SV, Pen W, Contaflex BC, 2x Nikkormat

Other black finishes,

M4-P, Alpa 12W and SW

Of course they don't take better pics than chrome, and indeed I got rid of my black M3 because I use 35mm a lot. But I still like them more...

Cheers,

R.

I've always wanted a M4-2 (in black of course) but in the end I couldn't justify the extra money and wouldn't enjoy it as much as a metered camera, so bought a used Bessa R (in black of course) but who knows, maybe one day...

Personally, I am not big on BP Leicas - nor am I a big fan of the M6TTL. But my all-time favorite BP Leica M is the M6 Millennium. She has all of the traditional engraving and the paint won’t (easily) rub off.

IMHO, one of Leica’s finest 'special edition' efforts.

An 'Erik-style' shot 😉 of my Black Paint M3 DS from 1955. Original spare top plate for early Leica's, has screw holes and never had a serial number engraved. I know the serial number by heart.

what a beautiful combination ! Johan i still want that Perfex Wollensak 🙂
i've posted this in the "let's see your M" thread but i think it should live here too. here's my only black paint Leica :

It's engraved and black paint. it's the only M film camera that has the black logo as an original.
