The lens is very sharp stopped down a bit. Contrast is medium, well suited for b&w film. However, there's significant flaring and diminished contrast when shooting against the light (second picture).

Lovely family photos, Giulio! You're doing great with the SUMMARON in capturing the daily life of your child. Keep it up!

This shot reminds me of the great August Sander, especially the woman; the man too, except his t-shirt. In itself the lettering above right and lower left gives a good effect. I also like the straight line that can be drawn through the center of the photograph from all the way up to all the way down. A remarkable and very beautiful shot!

Erik.

Thank you Erik, such a compliment coming from you means a lot to me.
I think the way they decide to look at the camera made the shot together with the composition.

I will reserve the same spot at "a la morte subite" if you ever decide to come to brussels.

Giulio.

Erik, you are so right! I thought the same thing myself. August Sander to a T. And especially the lady. The critical feature seems what appears to be an intentional expressionless look.

It also reminds me of some of the photos in the late 1930s and early 40s from the American Farm Security Administration, especially the portraits by Russell Lee.

Thank you Robert and Anthony, now I am afraid to post any new photo as it will not be as good as this one :)

He's my best friend, we know each other for 20 years.
Everything started with a punk band...getting older we moved to photography...
