Summaron 35mm f2.8

Nice shot this one, wide open! I will try it too with my Summaron.

Obrigado Estevao.

My workflow with the V600 is really basic and as Erik says the Epson is good enough for posting online.

Close up and wide open seems to be the spot where the summaron shines, an example from earlier this year:

Yes, that is how I do it, but I adapt every scan carefully beforehand with the aid of the built in densitometer. First I make the setting for the high lights, then for the dark tones and finally for the middle tones. I have a very precise workflow for this, but it is difficult for me to explain this in words. No automation whatsoever. I carefully look for the lightest and darkest points of the negative.

Thanks for the info. This is in the Epson Scan "Professional Mode"? Mine is an older model, but I assume the software is similar. Does it do an initial auto exposure that you then adjust for each preview? Do you use mostly the levels settings; ever use the curve tool?

Yes, the Professional mode and then the Histogram adaptation. All the other settings are off. I choose a resolution of 3200.

When the scan is done, I finish the picture in Photoshop. I choose an unsharp mask amount of 343% at 1,0 pixel. I save twice, one for my archive and another one for web use. For web use I choose Save for web with a "height" (short side of the picture including border) of 1200 pixels and another unsharp mask amount of 30%. That's about it.

Erik.
